  1. I did see the Mets coming in third in a couple of zip codes along Florida's East Coast.
  2. Box score Colon 4.8 Granderson 1 Matsuzaka 0.4 Murphy 1.4 Rice 0.4 CYoung 1.4 EYoung 0.6
  3. And so has Bobby Abreu!
  4. I think so too.
  5. By drifting my mouse pointer over the Long Island part of the map, it seems that 11554, East Meadow NY, is the most Metly zip code, at 30 per cent. The zip code I grew up in, 11788 (Hauppauge) is 58 per cent Evil Empire, 25 per cent Mets, 6 per cent Red Sox. Things have changed; when I was a kid just about everyone was a Mets fan. The few Yankee fans in the neighborhood were anomalies. We had Tom Seaver, they had Mel Stottlemyre.
  6. SCHAEFER METS PLAYER OF THE WEEK, 2014 Week ending April 5: Juan Lagares, 5.68 points. Week ending April 12: Eric Young, 4.89 points. Week ending April 19: David Wright, 5.25 points.
  7. Can someone provide a link?
  8. Voting for Monday night's win over the Cardinals at Citi Field will close on Friday morning, some time after 10 a.m. Schaefer POTG 4/21/14 - Mets 2, Cardinals 0
  9. d'Arnaud 0.8 Duda 2.2 Matsuzaka 0.3 Murphy 0.5 Niese 4.3 Nieuwenhuis 0.8 Rice 0.3 Tejada 0.8
  10. I did some actual math to check on my previous statement. Curtis Granderson can get off the Interstate by going 8 for 8. Or, he can get off the wrong exit by going 0 for 12. I'm afraid that the second option seems more likely. The Interstate that he's on, I-16, runs from Macon, Georgia to Savannah, Georgia. He's definitely been playing like someone who's trying to get to Savannah.
  11. I honestly don't care about numbers 1 and 2, although I understand that a lot of people do. Points 3, 4, and 5 make sense to me.
  12. Centerfield wrote: It's pretty clear to me that Jay Horowitz is out of touch and needs to be replaced. I think that's right on the money. Jay has an affable public persona, but I think we've seen enough evidence that he's really an asshole. I think the Mets are (or should be) more embarrassed by the way they react to events than by the events that they've been reacting to. As for Harvey, I don't mind that he has a touch of the spirit of '86. Maybe they need a little more of that. (Andy Martino made a similar point in this morning's Daily News.) And as for Harvey's middle finger, I think it's ridiculous that a middle finger is offensive if it doesn't have another finger next to it, but it's inoffensive if it does. And that an index finger or a ring finger or a pinkie can stand alone inoffensively while a middle finger can't.
  13. Granderson's quickest way off the interstate would be a few more hitless at bats.
  14. Voting for all three games played against the Braves at Citi Field last weekend will close on Thursday morning, some time after 10 a.m. Saturday's game (April 19) is particularly light on votes. Schaefer POTG 4/18/14 - Braves 6, Mets 0 Shaefer POTG 4/19/14 - Braves 7, Mets 5 Schaefer POTG, 4/20/2014: Mets 4 Braves 3 (14)
  15. Thanks! (I assume not everyone got the reference.)
  16. I think I found a clue! Now, what would Blue want to do with a hospital gown? I'd better get my handy dandy notebook
  17. Definitely. It's much more important to honor fictional characters than military veterans.
  18. When I picture him in my head, I see him lunging at a pitch that's low and outside. Am I imagining this, or is he doing that a lot?
  19. Edgy MD wrote: His start has been positively Ike-like. And that's not so good, right?
  20. John Harper made that same argument in the Daily News this morning.
  21. I'm starting to feel optimistic about d'Arnaud, but an increasing sense of gloom about Granderson. I think he'll snap out of it, but I want him to do so before the George Foster/Jason Bay stuff becomes permanently stuck to him.
