  1. Why don't you ask for his wife's underwear while you're at it? If you're going to be creepy, there's no point in holding back.
  2. I know that it was Donald O'Connor who co-starred with Gene Kelly in Singin' in the Rain, but there's some part of my subconscious that keeps trying to convince me that it was Danny Kaye. I really haven't seen much of Danny Kaye's work. The only movie of his that I've seen as an adult is White Christmas. I think I saw Walter Mitty and Hans Christian Anderson when I was a kid, but I have little memory of either of them. I seem to remember him as a guest star on TV variety shows, but I'm not even sure of that.
  3. Voting for last Thursday's game, the final game of the series played at Wrigley Field, will close on Wednesday morning some time after 10 a.m. Schaefer POTG 6/5/14 - Cubs 7, Mets 4
  4. Voting for Wednesday night's loss to the Cubs will close on Tuesday morning, some time after 10 a.m. It looks like there may still be some pending votes for this game. If so, please try to get them submitted today. Schaefer POTG 6/4/14 - Cubs 5, Mets 4

  6. As they say, you're never as bad as you look when you're losing. (And you're never as good as you look when you're winning.) Getting swept by the Giants in San Francisco is not good, but not totally unexpected either. The previous series, in Chicago, is another story entirely.
  7. If David isn't ten-and-five yet, he will be in a matter of weeks. He's not going anywhere. EDIT: He'll hit ten years of service time on July 21.
  8. Colon 1.75 den Dekker 0.5 Duda 1.75 Familia 1.5 Murphy 0.5 Recker 1.75 Wright 0.5
  9. The only "Tyler Moore" for me is Mary. This one will have to be a heckuva ballplayer if he's going to entrance me more than Laura Petrie has.
  10. The Mets pick a catcher named "Tyler Moore" from Louisiana State. Isn't there already a Tyler Moore in the big leagues?
  11. He'll have to change the spelling of his first name. I'll accept "Alan" or "Allen" but not "Alen". We already have a "Jenrry". We have to draw the line somewhere!
  12. Brown 2.75 Tejada 0.75 Flores 0.75 CYoung 0.75 Campbell 0.75
  13. Voting for Tuesday night's loss to the Cubs will close some time over the weekend, but not before 10 a.m. on Saturday. Schaefer POTG 6/3/14 - Cubs 2, Mets 1

And his family feels just awful about it. The Ultimate Mets Database apologizes to the family of Omar Quintanilla. The data has been fixed. We do regret any inconvenience that this may have caused.

  17. Where is Conforto likely to be assigned? (Assuming they sign him, of course.) Brooklyn?
  18. The replays I saw on the Chicago telecast looked very much like the runner's hand touched the plate before there was any tag. I was fully expecting that reversal.
  19. Cubs announcers were surprised that Terry didn't challenge the safe call at first base on the attempted double-play. On replay it did look like it should have been an out call. If that call had been reversed, the Cubs wouldn't have scored any of their three runs.
  20. And Frank Lucchesi plays a small role in Mets history he was the manager who was punched by Lenny Randle, leading to his release from the Rangers and his signing by the Mets.
