  1. Yeah, that sounds a bit more alarming.
  2. Is it uncommon for a pitcher to leave the game after the seventh inning?
  3. I've seen an inside-the-park homer in person, although I don't recall whether it was Darryl Strawberry or Howard Johnson who did it. And I've seen at least one pitcher hit a home run: Kris Benson, as an Oriole, homered off (I think) Pedro Martinez. I've also seen an 18-inning game, a pigeon struck by a fly ball, a player grounding into four double plays in the same game, and a game interrupted by a parachutist.

  6. Sounds like a three-game visit to Citi Field is just what they need to turn themselves around.
  7. Well, Flores can't hit in four consecutive games unless he plays in four consecutive games.

  10. Voting for the game that the Mets won will close some time over the weekend, but not before 10 a.m. on Saturday. Schaefer POTG 6/10/14 - Mets 6, Milwaukee 2
  11. I wonder, if Lagares and/or Eric Young were healthy, would they have bailed on Chris Young by now? And when one or both of them come back, will that be the end of Chris? I'd like to think it will. This is shaping up as another nowhere season, so let's give at bats to Nieuwenhuis or den Dekker instead of to someone who has no future with the team.

  13. The people who were around during Bill Skowron's generation could have given him a plaque, but didn't.

  15. I think Teagarden should play every day, until he stops hitting grand slams.
  16. Voting for all three games played in San Francisco last weekend will close on Thursday morning, some time after 10 a.m. Schaefer POTG 6/6/14 - Giants 4, Mets 2 Schaefer POTG 6/7/14 - Giants 5, Mets 4 Schaefer POTG 6/8/14 - Giants 6, Mets 4

  18. This is one of the cards I've made that makes me smell bubble gum. It brought me back to the days of flipping through cards and seeing the familiar Mets color scheme but a mostly unfamiliar player.
  19. If I was married to Vivian Leigh, I doubt that Danny Kaye would be able to tempt me into infidelity. But maybe that's just me.
