  1. I can tell that we've reached the point in the season where few people care to do this anymore, which is understandable. But I'm determined to finish out the season! All three games played against the Phillies this past weekend will, despite their low vote totals, close on Friday morning, some time after 10 a.m. This will close out the month of August. 4. Voting for last Thursday's loss to the Braves will close tomorrow (Thursday) morning, some time after 10 a.m. This game is especially low in votes, but it will close as scheduled regardless. Schaefer POTG 8/28/14 - Braves 6, Mets 1
  5. It looks like everyone who posted in this thread has turned out to have been overly optimistic. At this point, we can only hope that he'll take a page from Carlos Beltran's book and have a much better second season with the Mets.

Very anonymous first-time manager on a team both at a low point in its history (3 consecutive 105+ loss seasons) and during the first span in history where they don't play the Mets (we actually get that division this year but theirs in the final series of the year). Also was pretty anonymous during his playing career (brief stints with 3 different AL clubs) to the point where I think most NYM fans would have trouble picking him out of a one-man lineup. I have to be honest here... after making my post about not knowing who the manager of the Houston Astros was, I realized that I couldn't name the managers of the Marlins or the Nationals either. I just looked it up; the name "Mike Redmond" didn't even ring a bell, and I had no idea that Matt Williams was managing the Nationals. I mean, I'm sure I heard this information before, but my brain didn't consider it important enough to retain.

But as of right now we havent even approached (left field) as an option, because it would have to be going to the instructional league, get to (Port St. Lucie) in January and start the process. But Collins certainly believes that his catcher could get the job done in the outfield. Hes got some things that could play out there, the skipper said. He runs good enough. He throws good enough. I'm less than thrilled about this possibility. I think a good part of Travis' appeal is how well he hits as a catcher. I would guess that his offense ranks higher among catchers than it does among left fielders.
