  1. Let's get another run or two here to get some breathing room for Familia.
  2. This is just plain fantastic.
  3. Kelly HOMERS for Wilmer!
  4. Kelly hitting for Wilmer.
  5. From Baseball Prospectus: Mets NL East odds go from 90.3% to 94.7% with yesterday's win over the Nationals. Wild card odds remain at 0.1%. World Championship odds for division leaders: [list:rsjeccpl]Dodgers 18.7% Blue Jays 17.0% Astros 12.9% Mets 9.9% Royals 9.3% Cardinals 8.8%[/list:u:rsjeccpl] NL East Tragic Numbers: Phillies 1, Braves 2, Marlins 5, Nationals 19.
  6. They should give Harper the day off.
  7. All I know is that I flew to Lima, Peru on July 20, thinking that the Mets were having another middling season. I came back to the United States on August 5, with the Mets in first place and the exuberance was in place and accelerating. To me it felt like landing in Oz, but without the trouble that stems from dropping your house on a witch.
  8. Voting for all four of the games listed below will close on Thursday morning, some time after 10 a.m. Voting for the September 6 game is especially light. Remember, we only have a few weeks left before Schaefer voting in the CPF ends forever, and there's a pennant race going on! There's never been a better time to do some Schaefer voting! Schaefer POTG 9/4/15 - Marlins 6, Mets 5 (11 Innings) Schaefer POTG 9/5/15 - Mets 7, Marlins 0 Schaefer POTG 9/6/15 - Marlins 4, Mets 3 Schaefer POTG 9/7/15 - Mets 8, Nationals 5
  9. My guess is that they see the Yankees as one of their tougher remaining opponents and would therefore want to use Harvey to get a better chance of winning the game. I don't think they need a Harvey start to sell tickets. A Mets-Yankees series in September with both teams in a pennant race is not going to have a lot of empty seats.
  10. Actually, on the morning of August 5, when this thread started, the Mets were 57-50, the lead was 1 game, the magic number was 56, and the NHOP was .500. Things have only brightened since then.
  11. Cespedes 2.25 Clippard 1 Familia 1 Flores 1 Granderson 0.5 Nieuwenhuis 1.75 Reed 1 Wright 1.5
  12. I agree. A win tonight isn't as necessary as on Monday and Tuesday, but it's every bit as desirable. KILL-KILL-KILL!
  13. And the exuberance is more and more rational with each week that passes. (EDIT: Oops... Ceetar's reply snuck in just ahead of mine.)
  14. That's nuts. I have nothing but good memories of Jesse Orosco.
  15. More like make Ruben cry. (And maybe Dilson too.) I see Wilmer as the regular second baseman next year.
  16. That's something to think about. Xander Bogaerts is only 22, already has success in the big leagues, under team control through 2019 (one year more than Harvey is). What's not to like? And his agent is Scott Boras! (Okay, there's something not to like.)
  17. If he could be signed for three or four years I'd say go for it. But he's probably going to get six, seven, or even eight and that's an entirely different story. If someone is going to be willing to pay him $30 million at the age of 37, it shouldn't be the Mets.
  18. I don't agree with that. This is the kind of thing that sometimes happens to the Mets. But every once in a while there's a magical year, and this kind of stuff goes in the Mets favor.
  19. Hell, I'm not going to wait until tomorrow morning to post this! In the second game of the series in Washington the Mets roar back from a 7-1 deficit to win 8-7. This Nationals loss has to be categorized as a "cock punch". Magic number drops from 21 to 19, the NHOP drops to its lowest point of the season, going from .420 to .396. At worst, the Mets will leave Washington with a 5-game lead, and that's pretty damn good. And they have a chance to make that a 7-game lead with tomorrow's game, which would be a season high. This series, which could have spelled disaster, now most definitely won't. Go to your calendar and draw a big happy face on September 8, 2015. 20. I am TOTALLY giddy right now!
  21. The Latin Hothead Chart? Wow!
  22. But they do have to make a QO to continue negotiating past a certain point, don't they?
  23. ...the Mets can let the process play out and be like any of the other 29 clubs that can negotiate and sign him at any point this offseason. But if they're really like all of the other 29 clubs, doesn't that mean that the Mets have to make a Qualifying Offer in order to continue to negotiate after a certain date? And since Yoenis is a player that was acquired mid-season, even with a QO there's no draft pick compensation for the Mets, correct?
  24. I don't object at all to the alternating lineup. I think it makes sense.
  25. Akeel Morris is still on the 40-man, isn't he? Might he be called up too?
