  1. This letter appeared in the Voice of the People in today's Daily News. Long Island City: I won’t see the new version of “Wonder Woman” because it won’t make America great again. It has nothing to do with America. But my lesbian friend Daisy saw it twice in one day and told me it was nirvana and that she can’t wait for “Wonder Woman II.”
  2. And Jay-or-Reese Familia hopes to get clearance to start throwing.
  3. Same thumb injury from last month?
  4. Yeah, really! I mean, what about Barbarella?
  5. Edgy MD wrote: I am not Terry Collins. Folks make that mistake a lot, though. That's not you in this photo?
  6. Does Granderson have a history of success against Lackey? That's the only reason I'd be able to think of. But regardless of any past history, Granderson isn't the player he used to be, and Conforto is still the player that he is.
  7. Hopefully they'll also get an (L) next to their names in the box scores.

It's 6.3% to advance to the NLDS and 0.5% to win the World Series. If they push this winning streak to 11 expect that postseason chance to jump to 55 or so. Easier said than done, of course, but yes, a sustained hot streak for the next week or two would improve their chances dramatically. It's make-or-break time.

  11. LAST CALL! All games from the second half of May will be closing on Wednesday morning. If there are any games that you still intend to vote for, please try to do so today or tomorrow.
  12. Another reminder. There are a few games from the last week of May that seem to be a little short on votes.
  13. BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO CHEAP! AM I RIGHT PEOPLE?
  14. The Oregonian wrote: As a teenager, Heimlich pleaded guilty to a single charge of sexually molesting a 6-year-old female family member. Heimlich registered as a sex offender in Benton County after arriving at Oregon State. When he was cited in April for missing an annual update, it put the case in Oregon court records for the first time. OSU's top pitcher was 15 years old when the crime occurred in his family's home in Puyallup, Washington, according to court documents obtained last week by The Oregonian/OregonLive through a public records request. Juvenile court records in Washington, unlike in Oregon, are not automatically confidential. The article also describes him as an "ace left-hander who statistically is the nation's best pitcher and is among the top prospects in next week's Major League Baseball draft." I imagine this has to affect the draft, but how? If he's as talented as the article implies, would all 30 teams pass on him round after round? It's hard to believe that he won't get drafted. But that's a PR nightmare.
  15. Frayed Knot wrote: And Jerry Blevins vultures the win. I think the official scorer should have the discretion to give the win to Wheeler in a game like this. I know that there's the "brief-and-ineffective" rule, but you rarely see it, and when it does get invoked, the win seems to always go to the pitcher who came after Mr. Brief-And-Ineffective, and not to the one who preceded him. Anyway... Cast your vote!
  16. I didn't have any problem with the broken fourth wall. I like it when George Burns does it on Burns and Allen. And more recent examples include House of Cards and Fleabag.
  17. How do you get a name like "Newcomb"? I can see it being notable if you have a new car, or a new house, or a new wife, but if the only thing interesting about you is that you got a new comb, you've got to be the most boring person alive.
  18. There's an in-print paperback edition of Fear Strikes Out available on Amazon.com for $17.93. These versions look more interesting: $29.95 $500.00
  19. Here's what they should do: Build the mall on stilts, so that there would be less of an impact on parking, and make it look, from the outside anyway, exactly like Shea Stadium!
