  3. I know! Hopefully they'll revisit this decision just like they did with deGrom.
  4. Any trade for Harvey would involve either the Mets paying a big chunk of Harvey's remaining salary, or taking on some other team's bad contract. You're right, without that, nobody will want to make a deal for Harvey.
  5. The Reds are 8 and 26 (same as the Orioles) with an MLB-worst .235 winning percentage, putting them on a pace to go 38 and 124 on the season. If the Mets don't get right over these three games, it will be especially pathetic.
  6. Nick Cafardo, The Boston Globe wrote: The Mets finally had enough of Harvey's attitude and performance and designated him for assignment. They'll try to deal him, but given his recent outings that may be tough. Yet, teams need pitching, and if one thinks it can resurrect Harvey's career, it will deal for him. There's been some suggestion he may be offered to the Red Sox for Blake Swihart, but the Sox don't appear interested in that swap. Could this speculation have originated... here?
  7. Swihart is making the major league minimum (or close to it, at $564,000) and has four more years before he's eligible for free agency. If the Mets were to deal Harvey for Swihart, they'd probably have to also include around $4 million cash. And there's no reason why they shouldn't be willing to do that; that money will be lost anyway. The only reason not to would be if there's another team offering a better player for Harvey and $4 million.
  8. They must have been impressed with the way Warthen coaxed Harvey to a 6.80 ERA last season.
  9. I gave it four stars. I liked it more than I do most of these movies.
  10. Realmuto would not be a rental. He has three years of team control remaining. He wasn't going to come cheap no matter what.
  11. It's a long-standing tradition that all Mets players born in Ireland wear number 60.
  12. . SCHAEFER VOTING! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IT'S STILL A THING! Cast your vote!
  13. Yeah, I think Vegas might be the thing for him. Give him two or three weeks to play regularly.
  14. I was thinking that he might have gotten the nickname of "P.J." because he wears distinctive pajamas, and that bacon outfit seems to be evidence that this is so.
  15. I remember a time when the Mets wives were older than me.

  18. Mine too. 1968 is the one cover in this thing that I know I'll never vote against.
  19. I definitely prefer the action shot to the cartoon drawing of Mr. Met. This is currently a very close poll, with Mr. Met leading John Stearns 8 to 7.
