  1. Today was a good day for Mr. Met in the Yearbook Cover Derby. In all the years of Mets yearbooks, he's only been featured on the cover twice, in 1963 and again in 1976. And both of those covers were winners in the polls that closed today. The 1963 cover scored an easy 15 to 1 victory over the 1989 Revised Edition and the Bicentennial cover prevailed over John Stearns' 1978 action shot, 12 to 8. The bad news for Mr. Met? These two covers will face each other in an epic third-round showdown! ADVANCING TO ROUND THREE: ELIMINATED: ADVANCING TO ROUND THREE: ELIMINATED:
  2. I'm not sure I see a reduced freedom here, unless it's the freedom to fly a drone over a crowded space. Shouldn't you also have the freedom to prevent a drone from flying over your property? If there was some strange drone flying over my house I would like to have the right to snag it and bring it down.
  3. They need to get another outfielder or two on their 40-man roster.
  4. Why bother trying to cure cancer when not getting cancer will just lead you to die of something else?
  5. Thanks! Although I already have a lot of deGrom cards to choose from, I decided to create yet another one to reflect his new look. But if he continues to win Schaefer awards in 2018, I'll probably dust off some of the long-hair cards from previous seasons.
  6. I guess that's a demotion he can't refuse.
  7. When you said that Dom Smith was "on the way to Philly" I thought for a moment that he had been traded.
  8. In our third unanimous result, and the first of the second round, the 1970 cover has ousted the 1984 cover by capturing all 14 votes cast. We're on another hiatus, by the way. All second-round polls have been posted and the third round will begin next Friday, May 18. ADVANCING TO ROUND THREE: ELIMINATED:
  9. I'm totally square. Never tried pot or even a regular cigarette. However, when the conversation turns to caffeine or Pop Tarts...
  10. I got dragged to church every Sunday and every Holy Day of Obligation. I had eight years of catechism. I never really felt it, never believed it, never wanted it, and when I was old enough I walked away from it. Your son is a free-thinking human being and if he didn't want this, he'd know he had options.
  11. All I know about cocaine is what I see on TV and in the movies and judging from that, it would seem that it has a nearly instant effect.

Maybe he's rightfully put off by the smug attitude of their fans and decided he doesn't want to be one of them. For most things yes. But I don't know that I ever gave him the chance on this one. I really and truly believe that kids shares interests with their parents if they're by nature inclined to do so. Certainly that's true by the time they're 13 years old. Would he have been a Mets fan if you weren't? Maybe not. But he certainly had a choice.
