  1. And... he's two thirds of the way to tying the National League Rookie Record. Edgy MD wrote: On a pace to have one of the top-20 all-time best home-run seasons in Mets history. You mean in major-league history, right? He's on a pace for the top-1 in Mets history.

  4. I'm surprised that only once in Mets history has a player finished the season with exactly 25 home runs. I had no idea! Anyway... about that multiple-way tie for 2,172nd place: I've been looking at these updates and I can't figure out the sequence in which the players are listed. It's not alphabetical, and it's not chronological. Is it random, or is there some sequence that I'm not picking up on?
  5. The Brooklyn Dodgers used to play some home games in Jersey City, I think. But of course this is much different. Montreal and St. Petersburg are about 1,500 miles apart. I guess they'd be the Tampa-Montreal Rays. (Kind of like the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Red Barons.) Sucks for the dozen or so Rays fans in Florida who would be far away from any late-season pennant race games. Would they return to Florida for any post-season games, because of the better weather? Or will Montreal have a domed stadium? This is very strange. I have to think it's really a first step towards a permanent relocation.
  6. My hope is that when Fred dies that Jeff decides that he'd rather have $2 billion than a perpetually mediocre baseball team with a fan base that largely despises him. We haven't seen any evidence that that's the case, but it's my hope.
