  1. Juan Lagares? (18)
  2. I'll guess Jesse Orosco as the pitcher.
  3. In total, five Mets players have lived to be 90. In addition to those above who are alive at the present time, there's Yogi Berra. Hobie Landrith is about a month away from joining the club. (Born March 16, 1930.)
  4. Josh Lewin was born in 1968. Maybe 1974 is the first year he remembers.
  5. Well, it's 32 years, which is bracket-friendly. Other than that, I don't see anything. It's ALMOST but not quite the first 32 years of the DH.
  6. I voted Cohen for less.

  9. I don't know. It's probably pretty rare that a position player takes the mound in a game that's not lopsided or beyond the ninth inning.
  10. https://michaelpaulonline.com/wp-content/uploads/real_time_new_rules_041808.jpg> They're not clear on when the "27th-player rule" would be in effect. I assume it's on days when doubleheaders are played?
  11. You can test that. Next time buy some feminine hygiene products and see what he says.
  12. I know this thread is just for fun, but I'd rather see a deep-pocketed billionaire buy the team than a bunch of celebrities who may be overextending themselves. We'd be left with the same situation we're in with the Wilpons, only less smarmy.
  13. It's the soccer thing again.
  14. Are guys like Mike Piazza and David Wright eligible for this list?
  15. Schaefer Mets Player of the Month in August 2014. Also won the "Bench" award twice. http://leaptoad.com/mets/cards/JuanLagares1971.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/cards/JuanLagares1973.jpg>
  16. In 2019 in the National League, the Dodgers would have gotten the first-round bye. The Braves would then have been able to choose their opponent from among the Nationals, Brewers, Mets, and Diamondbacks. The Cardinals would have had their choice from among the three teams that the Braves passed on. And the two remaining teams would have played each other.
  17. Who is projecting the Mets as 2020 division winners?
  18. You know what... I don't hate it as much as I should. Fourteen out of thirty teams making the post season: Bad. Having the first round be best-of-three instead of best-of-one: Good. Choose your opponent: Interesting. There's no way I'd sit through a one-hour TV show to find out who the Mets playoff opponent will be. I'd sign up for some kind of text alert instead. This would be more palatable if MLB expanded to more than 30 teams. Maybe 36? I know THAT has its own problems, but I'd be okay with 36 teams.
  19. It sounds like a great idea. I don't think I would have much to contribute, but it sounds like a great idea.
  20. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71xM1-E2sVL.jpg> Back in 2000, I was in LAX waiting to board a flight back to the East Coast and I didn't have enough reading material. I chose this book at an airport bookstore and it was a terrific read. Roger Kahn's talents went beyond baseball. It was such a good book that I may very well read it again some day. I've been doing a lot of book purging lately in an attempt to declutter my house and my life but this is one I'm going to hang on to.
