  1. It doesn't look like it's a matter of "yet". Maybe the article has been revised since you posted the link, but it currently says that the request has been denied. So Pennsylvania doesn't want teams coming into the Western part of the state to play the Blue Jays, but it's okay if they come in to play the Pirates? The Philadelphia area hasn't been hit as hard as Pittsburgh has. Would they let the Blue Jays play at Citizens Bank Park? (I'm guessing probably not.) One option includes going to the city of each scheduled opponent and playing as the home team, sources told ESPN's Buster Olney. I think the Jays players would probably prefer Buffalo, minor-league facility that it is, to being constantly on the road for two months.

  3. 1. The Mets record (60 games). I'll say a .550 winning percentage, which would be 33-27. If fewer games are played, pro-rate as necessary. 2. Where will they finish in the NL East? Second, behind Atlanta. 3. Will The Mets make the playoffs (yes/no)? Yes, as a Wild Card. 4. If so, how far will they advance and the number of games in their final round? Lose the NLDS in four. 5. How many home runs will Pete Alonso hit? Fourteen.
  4. So Brodie was listening in on the Zoom call, huh?
  5. I've decided that even if the season only lasts three games, there will be a Schaefer Mets Player of the Year in 2020. And although we usually skip the short months, like March or October when there are very few regular-season games, there will be a Player of the Month for July. Anyway, here we go again! Voting will begin some time on Saturday, after I post Friday's box score to the UMDB. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/all_winners2019.png>
  6. Weather forecast looks promising so far. Currently no rain predicted for Friday.
  7. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/aa/Gordon_Cobbledick.jpg/220px-Gordon_Cobbledick.jpg> Now THAT'S a face! I tell you, if I looked like that... um... people would be calling me "Gordon Cobbledick." (Maybe it's just as well.)
  8. I just got that too. For me it's a little less because I got a discount for having well-trimmed nose hair. $89.99 is higher than it ought to be. I wonder how long it will take to get our refunds if the season ends in the first week of August?
  9. I'd be more worried if the pitchers were named Jacob deGrom or Steven Matz or Marcus Stroman. I'm less concerned if "Chasen Shreve" gets knocked around.
  10. How about Frank Thomas and Joe Christopher?
  11. I think the Commissioner has the authority to order changes of venue for any games. He should be at least thinking about pulling the Marlins and Rays out of Florida. And the same goes for the Texas and Arizona teams.
  12. It's more like 16 years. The Washington Nationals are the former Expos.
  13. Yes, that's exactly what it's about.
  14. I hear you! (And I hope you don't have COVID!) I can't help but think that the World Championship this year, should we get that far, will be seriously diminished. Do I even want the Mets to win a diminished title? I feel somewhat torn.
  15. I can definitely see that scenario.
  16. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pulled the plug in August. I'm sure the stats would count as official
  17. As of this afternoon, the Blue Jays still don't know where they'll be playing their home games. The Buffalo report cited above must have been premature. A Toronto beat writer interviewed on yesterday's ESPN telecast said that the Jays are considering other AAA parks, including Charlotte. Locating in Florida seems like a terrible choice. The Marlins and Rays should be seeking alternatives.
  18. I don't see any official word that the decision has been made.
  19. I'm blacked out of the SNY broadcast so I'm watching on ESPN. Are Gary, Keith and/or Ron in the ballpark or are they remote? The ESPN guys are remote.
  20. Who is Jessie winklers mother? https://ipaintings.com/images/james-abbott-mcneill-whistler-paintings-a-portrait-of-whistlers-mother-arrangement-in-grey-and-black-no-1/31620/600x600/LF5872.jpg>
  21. Those cutouts look ridiculous. They should at least have made them have consistent proportions.
  22. Daily News reporting that the Alex Rodriguez-Jennifer Lopez group is out of the running. The group they've assembled doesn't have enough money to adequately run the team.
  23. Things may be different in September, but I doubt it. Blue Jays are considering playing in Buffalo or Dunedin, Florida. The stadium in Buffalo has substandard lighting and Dunedin is in the COVID-friendly state of Florida. I'd say the Blue Jays should opt for 4pm games in Buffalo.
  24. The title of this thread seems to indicate that Citi Field will be hosting a gathering of people who are enthusiastic about cardboard cutouts.
