  1. How does this work, anyway? Do you have to submit a high resolution digital image?
  2. I'm going to have to refresh my memory regarding how I do in-season updates to the UMDB. It's been almost ten months!
  3. I guess they'll have to Photoshop a mask on your face.
  4. I don't think I've ever seen a photo of the Marlins' stadium from the outside. It's not bad...
  5. Yeah, what if it rains on Friday night and all of those cardboard cutouts get waterlogged and soft and mushy? Will they print another batch? Or will you be represented, for the rest of the season, by a pile of cardboard pulp?
  6. It does look much better from the inside. And yes, it's certainly time for the retro-era to end. It's too bad this one is so ugly from the outside. As I recall, the Twins' new stadium in Minneapolis isn't retro either, and I don't recall thinking it was ugly at all.
  7. Well that's a relief! Day-to-day NEVER turns out to be anything.
  8. Sheldon Adelson looks like the kind of guy who's going to fall off his yacht and drown in the Mediterranean within the next few years.
  9. Jacob deGrom has back pain.
  10. I looked to see what the history of minor-league names in the Dallas Fort-Worth area is. There was a long-time team called the "Dallas Rangers", but that's probably not a likely substitute! Further back, there were the "Dallas Eagles" and the "Fort Worth Cats". Another name that might work, and would only involve changing a few letters, would be the "Texas Ranchers".
  11. The Nashville expansion group, if they get a franchise, will name the team the Nashville Stars, after the Negro League team that used to play in the city.
  12. The complaint is that a large part of their mission was to clear the area of Native Americans.
  13. So what you're saying is that Jacob deGrom can't get Jed Lowrie out.
  14. Now... What are you going to do about the GM?
  15. It's weird that the 2021 schedule is released before the 2020 season has even started, but of course the weird part of it is that the 2020 season hasn't started yet.
  16. I suppose if it was important enough to make the effort, West could find a way to ump 65 games this year. He'd have to skip his days off and do one game each day. It would involve cooperation from the league, and it's not at all something that should be prioritized in a year like this. So no, I'm not suggesting anything of the sort actually occur, just saying that it is mathematically possible. Of course, the wild card here is that Bill Klem may decide to stop being dead and come back and add to his career total. https://natedsanders.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/28295.jpg>
  17. Joe West is 65 games shy of tying Bill Klem for the all time record for number of games umpired.
  18. Let's put Trump in jail first before we start worrying about the Wilpons.
  19. Deepest pockets, I guess.
  20. For the TV viewers, of course.
  21. People who live in Nashville probably don't think, well, we're in a tourist destination so I won't go to a ballgame.
  22. I don't know that MLB is planning to expand in 2024, but if they do, the city of Nashville is planning to be in on it: https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/2020/07/06/dave-dombrowski-nashville-baseball-mlb-5-things-know/3192591001/https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/2020/07/06/dave-dombrowski-nashville-baseball-mlb-5-things-know/3192591001/ I think the Tennessee/North Carolina area is probably the part of the country with the most potential for expansion. (Or for poaching an existing team. When I first saw this headline, I thought they were planning on going after the Tampa Rays. Or maybe the Oakland A's? I can't remember if Oakland has yet managed to get a stadium deal.)
