    Have they been doing seventh inning stretches this year, with no fans in the park? And if so, what do they do for seven inning games?

    Less than four hours until game time. As far as I can tell, starting pitchers have not been announced for either game and for either team yet.

    I can tell which one is the Met easily enough, but I'm not sure of his identity, so I'll go with one I do recognize. Fourth from the left, top row, Ron Blomberg.

    The thing is, NO apology is ever considered good enough by the general public. No one has yet found the magic words to show contrition without also seeming to make excuses, or without seeming to be mostly sorry about being caught, or any number of other things. You can either say too little, or too much. If you get into a situation where you have to apologize, you're doomed. That seems to be where we are these days.

    I looked at the standings this morning for the first time since the Mets went on hiatus. They're only percentage points behind the Giants for the eight playoff spot. The Giants, in fourth place in the NL West, are 14-16, .467 and the Mets are 12-14, .462. If the Mets can take three of four against the Marlins, they'll move into second place.

    Of course, there are two games tomorrow, so Gsellman may start one of them and deGrom the other. Maybe it's better to have Gsellman start a seven-inning game than a nine-inning game because his starts tend to end early.

    If a doubleheader game is tied after seven innings, do they start the eighth inning with a runner on second base, or does that still wait until the tenth inning?

    What about a makeup game against the Marlins? I would expect a doubleheader on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

    The NBA has been using something called SalivaDirect, developed by Yale University, which involves spitting in a vial. The hope is that SalivaDirect will be start rolling out to the general public within "weeks" according to Yale.

    I'm certainly curious to know just how many people were left behind in Miami.

    It's possible that there will be a doubleheader on Monday, as both the Mets and Yankees are scheduled to be off. That might mean three doubleheaders, one on Monday, one at Citi against Miami (with the Mets batting in the top of the inning in one of the games) and a third doubleheader next weekend. Assuming no more positive test results, of course. It may mean fewer starts for deGrom, but it also means sixteen fewer innings for the bullpen.

    How crazy is it that the season is already almost half over? And yeah, first place means little. I suppose it could affect home field advantage (if the second place team is ranked fifth or lower) but since it's possible that all post-season games will be played in a "bubble" that won't mean anything at all.

    I think he was talking to someone through his headset, which would explain why we only hear one end of the conversation.

    Let's talk about this! I'm okay with making Lugo a starter, given how shell-shocked the rotation is, but Diaz still frightens me. Would we be better off it it was Wilson? Or Betances? Or Drew Smith? Or Chasen Shreve? Maybe they can coax Jesse Orosco out of retirement?

    He's 56 years old (as I was until a few months ago) and is in his 14th season as a Reds announcer.
