    I do remember that. I recall talking with my friends about how Pete wouldn't be able to wear number 14 with the Mets and I suggested that he could wear uniform number 1.4 instead. I'm sure that, looking back, Rose regrets that he was on the Phillies in 1980 instead of the Mets.

    I notice that Lorinda deRoulet gets the title of "Mrs." before her name, but the men don't get a "Mr." Now that would be seen as sexist and condescending. I wonder when they stopped doing that?

    I just looked it up... the winter meetings start on December 6. I had read that the vote was scheduled for the winter meetings in November, but one part of that is obviously wrong. If the meetings are in December and the vote is in November, that's a very different story. The vote should definitely be held before the winter meetings.

    I wasn't aware that Chirinos would get $6.5 million. No, he's not worth that. Tomas Nido can be the second catcher just as easily.

    I would keep Chirinos and Ramirez, and try to keep Stroman. Wilson, Hughes, Marisnik... I don't know.

    I don't know. Lately it seems that the big free agents don't get signed until January. And COVID will probably slow things down too. There's a lot of uncertainty about next season.

    It was originally expected that the vote on Cohen's purchase of the Mets would be voted on at the November winter meetings, but Manfred has hinted that he'd like to get it done in October. Hopefully that will happen; the Mets should be able to be represented by their new administration at the winter meetings.

    My hope for the offseason is that they bring in a couple of starting pitchers, even better than Michael Wacha and Steven Matz, either through free agency or (maybe) by trading Amed Rosario. Extend Conforto. Sign Realmuto. (And if you can't sign him, sign Artificialmuto.) Maybe get a "natural" centerfielder. That should leave them pretty well positioned for now.
