Of the pitchers, Tidwell and Ziegler were at St. Lucie in 2022. Hamel is a little closer to the big leagues; he was in Brooklyn.

That's it. Just them. I was wondering how that compares to other franchises. (It would only be fair to include players who debuted in the 1960s or later, of course.)

I'd be okay if they were 5-6-7. The Mets will definitely add (or retain) some starters between now and April. The who and the how will be among the big stories of the winter.

He would be only the third Hall-of-Famer to come out of the Mets farm system.

I expected this, and welcome it. One less hole to fill.

I saw something in my Google News feed this morning about how the Mets are going to be in on Trea Turner, but the "source" seems to be someone who writes for one of the fan sites. (Metsmerized Online's Michael Mayer) So, yeah, I'll wait to see what callers to WFAN are saying before I believe this. However... I do wonder if the Mets will consider signing one of the four big-name free-agent middle infielders. If Nimmo leaves, one of these guys could go to second base with McNeil going to right field and Marte to center. Is this likely? Well... here's where we can discuss it! (I don't think the Mets will go this way, but I'm hoping they will. Even if they keep Nimmo, McNeil can displace Canha in the outfield.)

I guess at $1.5 million it's worth bringing him back, but I hope they find someone better (someone who won't clog up the basepaths) between now and Opening Day.

Maybe this is too random, as it has nothing apparently to do with baseball. From David Halberstam's Summer of '49, page 131 of my paperback edition: The proprietor himself had a strict sense of propriety, though. He did not like men who told dirty stories in front of women, and he did not like men who cheated on their wives. If a regular came in with a woman other than his wife, he received icy treatment. The club was about being pals, what one regular called palship. The rituals observed were on the order of lending money to a guy who was down, or making sure that the children of pals got handsome presents on their birthdays (though such children were rarely seen, and certainly not known). I don't know who or what this is referring to.
