Only Jay-or-Reese Familia, with 12, has more.

  6. Have they officially introduced Verlander yet?
  7. No, but you're allowed to bring your favorite courtroom artist.

  11. He could platoon with Canha. Or unseat Vogelbach.
  12. I'd like to see it happen. http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2015/20150726_NYDN_02.jpeg>
  13. http://leaptoad.com/mets/player_frequency_graph.php?year=2022&graphtype=st> That one blue dot for him in July is kind of odd. Active rosters have become so much more fluid in the last decade or so.

One-year Mets with 25 or more starts: Mickey Lolich 1976 30 starts, 8-13 192.2 innings, 3.22 Mark Bomback 1980 25 starts, 10-8 162.2 innings, 4.09 Frank Tanana 1993 29 starts, 7-15 183 innings, 4.48 Paul Wilson 1996 26 starts, 5-12 149 innings, 5.38 Orel Hershiser 1999 32 starts, 13-12 179 innings, 4.58 Mike Hampton 2000 33 starts, 15-10 217.2 innings, 3.14 Kevin Appier 2001 33 starts, 11-10 206.2 innings, 3.57 Chris Capuano 2011 31 starts, 11-12 186 innings, 4.55 Chris Bassitt 2022 30 starts, 15-9 181.2 innings, 3.42

  18. What does this mean for Travis?
  19. 2005: Tom Glavine, Pedro Martinez, Kris Benson, Victor Zambrano, Kaz Ishii.
  20. In 1999, the five pitchers with the most starts were Orel Hershiser, Al Leiter, Rick Reed, Masato Yoshii... and Octavio Dotel. Tied for sixth place: Bobby Jones and Kenny Rogers. So that doesn't quite qualify, but it comes pretty close.
  21. All second-round polls have now been posted, and we're waiting for the last few to close. At that point, our Sweet Sixteen will have been established. We'll then take a hiatus over Christmas and begin the third round on or around January 1.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Please remind me — is there no longer a posting system for players transferring from NPB to MLB, or does Senga's status somehow exclude him? There is still a posting system, but it didn't apply to Senga. I think Senga was a free agent in Japan, so no team had a claim on him.

  24. They could keep 48 in circulation and retire it later, like they did with 17 and 36.
  25. Phil Mushnick, New York Post wrote: In 1969, Bill Parrinello, 12 years old and from Elmont, N.Y., wrote fan letters to his favorite Mets: Cleon Jones, Tom Seaver, Tommie Agee, Bud Harrelson, Ed Charles and spare outfielder Rod Gaspar, who in that championship season batted .228. The only return he received was an autographed picture of Gaspar, with a note of thanks. In 2005, Parrinello emailed this memory to The Ultimate Mets' Database message board. Last week, Parrinello received an email thanking him for his 2005 salute to Gaspar. It was from Rod Gaspar, now 76 and living in California. For real? Parrinello was dubious. He called the number Gaspar included. After swapping obscure details of the 1969 season, he knew it was the same Met he wrote to 53 years ago. They had a nice chat, Gaspar pleased to be remembered. Pen pals for life.
