It's a unique looking cover. And although in this photo Lindor isn't mourning being bounced from the playoffs (he's actually reacting to having fouled a ball off his foot) the photo fits the headline and captures the mood of the day.

According to this article in the Post, the fifth option year is a club option: https://nypost.com/2023/01/27/mets-jeff-mcneil-agree-to-four-year-50-million-extension/https://nypost.com/2023/01/27/mets-jeff-mcneil-agree-to-four-year-50-million-extension/ So if he's still a good player after four more years, the Mets will have him for a fifth year. Is this unusual? I seem to think that most options are either player options or mutual options.

I seem to recall he might have had a base hit. A single most likely? Or maybe he was one of those guys who just played in the field and never even had a plate appearance?

It was 1973. That year the cover had framed photos of Mets players who had been All-Stars. Here's a blast from the past. The Yearbook Cover Derby, from the summer of 2018. 1973 didn't get out of the first round. It's very tiny, on the lower left, fourth from the bottom. http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/yearbooks/yearbook_brackets7.png>

We're rewarding covers not catches and the Vogelbach cover is better, if not the best this year. It's a unique picture (I'm guessing that a reporter took it from the press box given the angle). The Nimmo cover, as previously discussed, is ruined by the gratuitous "de", the superfluous image of the now-Texas player, and the intruding banner at the top. It looks like you just flipped two votes. A few minutes ago, CATCH was up 8-7, now BACH leads 9-6.
