  1. Does anyone know anything about this guy? "Kevin," you should know, is his middle name. His first initial is "J." (I don't know his birth place or age or anything else about him.) This Mets player also has a first initial of "J." and a middle name of "Kevin." Are they related? I would think if one was the father of the other we'd have heard something about it, but I don't think we have.
  2. The Marlins game the next night is what put me in the "fire Willie" camp. I was aghast and dismayed when he gave a quick hook to Feliciano. It smelled like a panic move at the time he made it, and it turned out so horribly.
  3. Here it is, September 19 in Washington: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?p=184186
  4. I think it was Sosa, but I can't remember which game it might have been. Let me do some searching...
  5. I see him as Pat Mahomes. Or Tom Gorman. In other words, long reliever/spot starter/guy who you hold in reserve in a long extra-inning game. If I remember correctly, and I may not, in a rare positive moment during the Collapse, somebody here (and it might have been Mr. Dickshot) proclaimed that Sosa "saved the season." I can't remember the details, though.
  6. I don't recall. I think he only implicated himself, but I'm not sure. But would Pettitte risk jail time to keep Clemens' steroid use a secret, when the public at large is already convinced that it's true? I sure wouldn't.
  7. I have no opinion on whether or not Pettitte is a great guy. He may or may not be. But my hope is that he's smarter than Clemens and knows that he's best served by telling the truth. Yes, he said "twice" to reporters, but he might admit to more when under oath. And he might not be loyal to his "friend" who expressed surprise and disappointment at Pettitte's steroid use. Keith Hernandez, remember, never admitted to cocaine use until he had to testify in Pittsburgh. He knew better than to perjure himself. Maybe Pettitte will follow the same course of action. I'm not counting on him being a swell guy, just hoping he's smarter than Clemens, which isn't setting that high a bar.
  8. I'm looking forward to what Andy Pettitte has to say, if anything. Those two seemed to have such a mutual crush going on. I wouldn't be surprised if, during their intimate conversations, they talked about their butt injections. I'd love to see Pettitte, under oath, come clean. (People who know him seem to think that he might do that.) And if he does, and he says, "Yes, Roger and I did get heinie shots from McNamee, and we discussed it frequently" then Clemens is really up the creek. In my ideal scenario, McGwire, Bonds, and Clemens are all kept out of Cooperstown.
  9. Spend some time with Roger Clemens. He'll probably scream it at you too.
  10. MLB.com wrote: In the wake of last month's Mitchell Report, Mark McGwire, the first star player tainted by the steroids era to face the electorate, finished at 23.6 percent, almost exactly the same place as last year, when he also received 128 votes despite hitting 70 homers in 1998 to win his famous record home run race against Sammy Sosa and finishing with 583 in his career. In 2007, McGwire also received an underwhelming 23.5 percent. I'm pleased. Jim Rice, meanwhile, missed by just 16 votes.
  11. The only thing I'm rooting for this time around is a low vote total for McGwire. I hope that his rejection last year wasn't just a result of voters not wanting him to be a first-ballot guy.
  12. Who's the "Good News Guy" now that Jack Lang is dead at the present time?

  14. Here's a question for the lawyers in the house: What's the difference between "defamation of character" and libel or slander? And, in a lawsuit like the one Clemens is pursuing, on whom is the burden of proof? Does Clemens have to prove that MacNamee lied, or does MacNamee have to prove that he told the truth?

  18. I was expecting to see Eight Men Out for Chicago.
  19. AG/DC wrote: The best one is Luther Hackman. Great name for fans of the original Superman movie, huh?
  20. How did the Mets manage to be able to sign him? Was he DFA'ed or out of options?
  21. Well, as we (and the world) saw in 2000, Clemens isn't a very convincing liar. That whole "I thought the bat was the ball" business wasn't even worthy of a six-year-old. It's funny that he claims that his two decades as a celebrity should give him credibility, especially since his track record has shown that he's a blatant liar. I really hope that Pettitte flips on him while under oath. And I REALLY hope that Clemens ends up in jail with Barry Bonds. Even without the steroids, they'd be great assets to their prison softball team.
  22. Sleepless in Seattle (Seattle also has had some hit TV shows set there, like Frasier, Grey's Anatomy and Dark Angel.)
  23. Maybe they took the Staten Island Ferry.
  24. I always have trouble remembering who Ed Randall is. Whenever I see his name I think it's a reference to the governor of Pennsylvania.
  25. It was watchable. The ending was too hokey. Unmemorable, but not awful. It couldn't overcome the dumb premise, though. A virus that makes people into super-strong zombie vampires? Sheesh.
