  1. It just says 1:26. Not sure how to interpret that. Is it a biblical notation or something?
  2. Well, the Brewers made their visit to Shea last year on May 11 through 13. Their success lasted a bit longer than that. But the Brewers had a half-game lead when the Mets arrived in Milwaukee at the end of July. The Mets took two out of three and left the Brewers in a tie for first place.
  3. My dishwasher is running right now, and the water is churning to the beat of the "Let's Go Mets" chant. I keep hearing it in my head... Let's Go Mets! Let's Go Mets! My dishwasher is a Mets fan!
  4. I try to always reward a reliever who pitches a scoreless inning in a tie game. Anyway, here's the latest notice about thread closing: Voting for the Mets Wednesday night 8-2 win over the Phillies will close some time over the weekend, perhaps as early as Saturday morning: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=8652 There's still plenty of time to vote on last night's 12-inning game. The two-workday rule means that voting will be open until Tuesday morning of next week.
  5. I'd really like to see Niese get a start or two for the Mets this year. (As long as he's ready, of course. I guess what I'm saying is I'd like to see him be ready for a cup of coffee in 2008.) I'd much rather see him get one of those fill-ins than Tony Armas or Claudio Vargas.
  6. Dormant since April 4: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=8567
  7. Filip Bondy actually made an interesting point in today's Daily News. He was saying that the Mets should switch their plans and start Santana tonight on his regular rest, since there's rain predicted for tomorrow and they risk using Santana for three innings or so in a rained-out game. He's right. Let Johan go tonight, and let Figueroa risk pitching meaningless innings. The Mets, of course, have the option of calling the game before it starts, thereby saving Santana for Sunday. But then he'd be going on even MORE rest than usual. Another thing to think about: If there is a rainout on Saturday, and, worst case, a starter pitches some lost innings, who starts the two games on Sunday? (I assume Sunday would be a doubleheader because this is probably the Brewers only visit to Shea this year?)
  9. When a game runs into extra innings, the points tend to get pinched. I would have normally given Maine a 4 for his effort, but so many relievers also made important contributions that some of their rewards had to come at Maine's expense. He did pitch 6 innings, but it was only half the game, so it's, in a way, sort of like he only pitched 4-plus. Not his fault, of course, that the game went into extras, but that's how Schaefer works, with its ten-point limit.
  10. I suspect that the Marlins-Tigers deal will end up well for Detroit, but only because of Cabrera. Willis has for the last few years seemed like a guy whose best years were already behind him. I know Cabrera was recently extended. When does Dontrelle's current contract end? My prediction: the Tigers let him leave via free agency.
  11. Pagan 2.6 Maine 2.3 Reyes 1.1 Church 1.1 Feliciano 0.8 Schoeneweis 0.7 Smith 0.7 Wagner 0.7

  13. As I said above, it's okay to post a comment along with your vote. (It's also mentioned in the guidelines.) I just don't want non-vote posts in the thread. (At least not until after the voting has closed.) So no need to have apologized *62! Sorry if I led you to think otherwise.
  14. And Schneider lines out. Anderson bats for Feliciano. Looks like we're aligned for Heilman in the 8th and Wagner in the 9th.
  15. Order a Schaefer for Pedro F.!
  16. Victorino strikes out to end all hope of a triple play. Let's turn two instead!
  17. A walk puts the tying run on base. Top of the order, none out. Fingers crossed for a triple play.
  18. And in comes Feliciano.
  19. A homer and a double. Get him out of there!
  20. Do we try to squeeze another inning out of Maine? (He's thrown 85 pitches.) I'm inclined to say no.
  21. I like seeing Pagan hitting second instead of Castillo. Can we keep it that way when (or if) Luis returns?
  22. Well, with Figueroa we're already down to the seventh starter on the depth chart. I'd guess that Sosa is number eight. Who's number nine? Armas maybe? (I'd prefer it to be a young guy with a future, but I don't know that any of them are even close to ready. Could Niese maybe get a spot start?) We're not too many injuries or mishaps away from potentially needing Vargas, especially if Pedro and Orlando's recoveries take even longer than the current mid-May estimate.
  23. Yeah. He's nice to have, especially if you never have to call him up.
  24. Not to intrude, but I thought I'd mention that the Ultimate Mets Database this year is going to try to keep more or less up to date with minor league stats throughout the season, rather than just posting them all for the first and only time after the season concludes. The stats won't be updated daily, but perhaps weekly. Anyway, here are this year's Sand Gnats, so far: http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/metannual.php?ThisYear=2008&tabno=8&teamno=67 Sorry for the interruption. Back to you, Sandgnat!
  25. Oooh, this is a Featured Archive! I had a dream last night that involved a cherry-flavored lollipop. (That HAS to be sexual, doesn't it?) In the dream I had a handful of these lollipops, and I offered one to a woman (a real-life person who I actually know) and she politely turned me down. I don't usually have dreams that are so blatantly easy to interpret.
