Joey Lucchesi is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in the 'Cuse, though he's also walked 15 batters in 32 innings. I'd think he'd be next up for a spot start, already being on the 40 man and all. Does Hauser have options? Yeah Lucchesi does seem like the best choice to replace Houser if he poops all over the mound today, figuratively or literally. Let's hope this discussion inspires Houser to throw a three-hit shutout today.
  3. He'll have until he gets better or until someone else (Megill seems closest) is ready.

  6. I have to wonder if the outcome would have been different if Pete had slid feet first.
  7. I never really thought he was anything but a stopgap.

  11. I hope he finds a way to get that baseball removed from the tip of his nose.
  12. So three seasons at the original configuration. It might easily have cost David Wright a chance at being Mets Home Run King.
  13. I don't remember how many seasons it was that those dimensions were in effect. Was it just 2009? Or did it extend beyond the first season?
  14. Those original dimensions were a bad idea. I'm glad they didn't stick with it for very long.

  17. I was watching this on delay and just now saw the ending. It was exhilarating! And that triumphant roar from Vientos is one I'll remember for a long time!

  20. I solved it with nine Mets today. I think this is a first for me. Alomar, Carter, Piazza. Lindor, Pedro, Beltran. Alonso, Murray, Mays
  21. I had thought that the Flyers were a forever team, but they were actually an expansion team from 1967. Tom Glavine was the first name I thought of, but I suspect our answer here would be someone who grew up in the Philadelphia area. Mike Piazza wouldn't have had a baseball card in 1985, so that rules him out.

I don't know, but I imagine only Ed Kranepool and Ron Hodges have had more guys scribble their names halfheartedly into a lineup card. But that's the hand I've been dealt. Mets players who have played for five or more managers: Tom Seaver 9 Ed Kranepool 8 Jerry Grote 7 John Stearns 7 Ron Hodges 7 Jerry Koosman 7 Bud Harrelson 7 John Franco 7 Craig Swan 7 Todd Hundley 6 Rusty Staub 6 Dave Kingman 6 Jon Matlack 5 Tug McGraw 5 Tomas Nido 5 Pedro Feliciano 5 Brandon Nimmo 5 David Wright 5 John Milner 5 Jeff Innis 5 Hubie Brooks 5 David Cone 5 Jose Reyes 5 Cleon Jones 5 Howard Johnson 5 Seaver's nine would be Westrum, Parker, Hodges, Berra, McMillan, Frazier, Torre, Bamberger, and Howard. For Kranepool, we'd add Stengel and subtract Bamberger and Howard.

  24. I don't love that Diaz threw 20 pitches today. Hopefully he can sit tomorrow.
