Ummm... yes! The lap belt and the shoulder belt!

The combination of Fman and Gwreck's most recent posts, above, gave me a powerful sense of deja vu. Is it possible we were saying the same thing last September? I have a hunch that this month is going to bring us all kinds of flashbacks, few of them good. Hopefully this month, though, will have a much happier ending. I don't know about you, but my seatbelts are fastened!

Yes. It would be very nice if the Nationals could destroy the Phillies the way they destroyed the Mets last year.

Yes. If the Mets win the division, the march to the World Series will be a difficult one, going through Milwaukee and, probably, Chicago.

I know. I also would have been counting on a generous official scorer.

The only thing batmagadanleadoff contributes is noise. Mostly I just tune him out. I'll now resume doing so.

    Pedro too.

    That's a pretty dumb argument!

No, the countdown! This thread has the air of a celebration, and it's, as I said, unseemly.

Kablammo, sez Beltran to your pessimism I'm glad to see that my crystal ball was malfunctioning today. And thanks for nothing, Carlos Zambrano!

Now there are two outs. Phillies still haven't scored. And now there are three. 3-2 Cubs, middle of the 8th.
  22. Benjamin Grimm
Phillies are mounting a threat in the 8th, though. Two on, none out. Bottom of the order coming up.
  23. Benjamin Grimm
    Nice!

Any day that the magic number drops is a good one. A day that it drops by two is an even better one. Expand the lead and reduce the magic number. That's the way to clinch. Pounding the Marlins this weekend while the Cubs do the same to the Phillies would also be very helpful.

It's Hundley. The Mets who only reached 30 one time are Frank Thomas, Gary Carter, Bobby Bonilla, Bernard Gilkey, Robin Ventura, Cliff Floyd, Mike Cameron, and David Wright.
