  1. It just says "Oklahoma" for the birth place? I wonder if it's possible that he wasn't born in any town at all. There may have been parts of Oklahoma in 1924 that were so rural that they didn't belong to any jurisdiction below that of a county.
  2. I don't keep track of the ups and downs from the farm system; only transactions where a player leaves or joins the organization. Can you find a birth place for Bob Murphy? Speculation is that it's Broken Arrow, OK (which is where Warren Spahn died) but I don't believe it's been verified.
  3. Thanks! I'll have to take a look at that birth date for Jay Kleven. There are a few birth and death dates (and places) missing for a lot of the non-playing Mets. I'll have to compile a list for you. I assume you're only going to be able to find information on people who are dead at the present time? Or does Ancestry.com also list info for living people?
  4. It's a good guess, but it's just a guess.
  5. The death of Carl Willey creates an opening in the list of 20 oldest living Mets. At the time of his death, Willey was in 14th place, just behind another Willie, Mr. Mays. 6. Can anyone find out where he died? I tried Google News and couldn't find a single report of his passing.

  9. The speculation is that the Mets would be reluctant to offer arbitration, because if he accepts he'll get far more than they'd want to pay him.

  17. It won't be before he returns, I wouldn't think. He'd probably have to pitch at least a few big league innings before a team would trade for him.
  18. Tatis 1.5 Murphy 1 Francoeur 0.5 Cora 0.5 Dessens 0.5 Green 0.5
  19. Pass. None of them really floated my boat.
  20. I voted Reed too, mainly because he'll have less opportunity to get hurt. Wright is out there every day.
  21. My suspicion doesn't stem from the fact that he's at Single A, but that he's at Savannah instead of St. Lucie.
  22. I was thinking the same thing about Savannah. It's not a good sign that the Mets have let Ratfliff stay there long enough to hit 14 homers.
  23. Would that really up the offense, though? Who would slide in at first and third?
  24. Complicates Schaefer tallying, if nothing else. Anderson did fairly well in DC, didn't he? He's probably better than Berroa.
  25. Francoeur has hit four homers? He may end leading the team!
