  1. SNY, easily. HD is very nice, but it ain't all that. Yesterday's game was the first I ever watched in HD, and I loved how the blue NEW YORK lettering on the grey uniforms popped. I watched the last few inning in a non-HD TiVo delay, and the uniforms didn't look nearly as good. But I'd gladly sacrifice the extra definition to have a more enjoyable listening experience.
  2. I say Maine has to go six innings tonight, no matter how much he may get clobbered.
  3. I was enjoying a brief period of unemployment between college graduation and starting my first job. I remember thinking how glad I was that I didn't have to go to work in the morning. I remember watching until 4 a.m., as McCarver and Zabriskie kept getting goofier and goofier, and Ralph kept getting crankier and crankier.

  5. I wasn't in the IGT, but was watching on a slight TiVo delay. I'd have to say that Jerry outmanaged the genius [crossout:2ocpogxw]this afternoon[/crossout:2ocpogxw] tonight.

Fans at Yankee Stadium II and III come across as having Emily Post-manners in comparison. I agree. (Well, about the Philadelphia part. I haven't been to Yankee Stadium since Seaver's 300th win in 1985.) I won't bring my kids into Citizens Bank Park. It's the nearest big league park to my home, and the Mets visit there several times a year, but I won't go there. If I have a jones to see a Mets road game, I'll go to DC.
  9. I'm surprised by that as well. Using AOL is like shopping at Gimbels.
  10. soupcan wrote: I agree. What I meant to write about that was in this era of baseball where players frequently move from team to team and can easily find themselves facing guys that were just on the same team with - how often do they really give each other tips to improve their individual games? Probably a lot more often than I would think. That's just human nature I would guess. I seem to remember Keith Hernandez saying that hitters would exchange tips with each other, and so would pitchers, but you wouldn't see hitters and pitchers talking like that. So either things have changed, or Francoeur is some kind of a maverick.
  11. Voting for Wednesday night's 10-inning loss to the Rockies in Denver will close over the weekend, perhaps as early as Saturday morning. Schaefer POTG 4/14/10 - Colorado 6, Mets 5 (10 Innings)
  12. Strange that Nieve got rewarded for his part in this game. 14. Heard Howie on the radio saying that no matter the score, Frankie Rodriguez is likely to pitch today, because he hasn't pitched since Sunday and he needs regular work. Grrrrr.... He should have been pitching yesterday!
  15. I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. I believe in peanut butter.
  16. I believe in winning one game out of every three, and finishing the season 54-108.
  17. The only saving grace from that inning is that the Rockies also botched a rundown, allowing Pelfrey to score from third.
  18. I keep reading this topic title as "Oh, Susan, let's Sterilize the Mets." I'm sure Bob Barker would approve of that.
  19. Nice quick inning from young Michael.
  20. Has a team ever fired a GM and a manager simultaneously and in-season? (I suppose it's been done, I just can't recall any examples offhand.) I guess the way to do it, if you're going to do it, is to get your GM lined up and have him pick his manager in advance of the announcement. How you do that, and keep it out of the tweets, is another story.
  21. You know, you might get a good year out of Wally, but then his insanity will kick in and he'll go down in flames and take the season with him. I too would prefer Oberkfell. Or Teufel. Or Melvin. Or any number of other people.
  22. Edgy DC wrote: I'll say it. I trust and respect Omar distinctly more than I T&R Jerry. Yeah, me too. I wish like hell that Omar hadn't passed on all those pitchers last winter, but overall he seems to have a better handle on his job than Jerry has on his.
