Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I never understood "You can't make this up." Sure you can. It happens all the time.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I think you have to DL him. Sit him down and let him heal, then come back at full strength. The two HR game was terrific, but those have been his only hits since he hurt his wrist. He had an OPS in the high .800's and it's fallen to .762.Get the guy healthy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I also have to think you come out of the dugout and argue for your player when a batter so indifferently interferes with him like that and gets him injured.

From the Tejada play to the Suzuki HBP last night. Terry has got to come out and throw a fit when this happens. Sure, it may not do much, but I think it helps morale. Picks a team up. Helps change the mood from "Woe is me" to "Fuck these guys man".
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I definitely would have gotten my self tossed on that Suzuki swing.

Helps change the mood from "Woe is me" to "Fuck these guys man".I think if you make a good case, it morally tilts the ump in your favor. Next time there's an ambiguous situation, in the back of the ump's mind is, "I've been really screwing the Mets recently, and I kind of owe them one."The next guy that's even remotely out of the box when the catcher is throwing is going to get called for it. And the other team knows it and will play just a little bit more on their heels, and the Mets' catchers will throw with just a little bit more confidence, knowing that the box belongs to them and them alone.
