Where do you go for a short-term hookup while BAE is away? Vegas! Which one of these makes you swipe right?

Adam Wilk. We saw him in spring training. Nothing special here. 5 games started. 5.60 ERA

Ricky Knapp. Um. Don't know much about Ricky. But I found this from 2013:

The Mets used their eighth-round selection on Florida Gulf Coast righty Ricky Knapp. While Knapp doesn’t offer an incredibly high ceiling or premier stuff, his knowledge of the craft creates a sort of gestalt effect whereby he succeeds beyond expectations.

Exciting! Full article here: http://www.amazinavenue.com/2013/6/10/4416556/2013-mets-draft-results-ricky-knapp

Tyler Pill. 3 game started, 19 innings pitched. 0.00 ERA!!! 2 games started, 10.2 innings pitched in AA. 0.00 ERA!!!

Who is this ace in the hole? In 2014 he was a pitcher on the rise. http://www.pressconnects.com/story/sports/columnists/2014/08/15/tyler-pill-pitcher-mets-prospect/14125533/

Pill does not overpower hitters. His fastball sits around 90 miles per hour, but he has shown good enough "stuff" to get batters to swing and miss regularly. He has struck out six batters or more in a game, nine times this season for the B-Mets (19 games)....After a rocky start this season that included five consecutive losses, Pill has found a rhythm on the mound using an arsenal of pitches that includes a fastball, curveball, slider and changeup. Pill added a slider to his repertoire while pitching for St. Lucie in 2012.

Wilfredo Boscan. 5 games started. 2.66 ERA.

Report from 2016:

Like all finesse pitchers Boscan will need to prove his approach will work in the majors, but he's got nothing left to prove in Triple-A. In the majors he projects as an 11th man on a staff, suitable for relief work or emergency starts.

Donovan Hand. 7.16 ERA.

From 2015:
He was mostly an 89-91 MPH guy with his four seamer and 88-90 with his two seamer. He relies heavily on his two seamer, mixing in an occasional four seam fastball. He also throws a change up and a slider with a change up every few games. The slider is an above-average pitch.

I saw Pill in Spring Training last year, and he looked good back then. I'd give him a try.

Sounds like a poor man's Dillon Gee.

And the guy who had the actual Dillon Gee was not all that rich to begin with.

Which describes the Mets right now (and then, too.)

It's not like there's a lot of free agents to be had by a team with a wide open purse.

Dillon Gee, of course, debuted in 2011, when the team had something like the fifth-highest payroll.

Of course, even in 2011, with the fifth-highest payroll, they were tapped out.

Tyler Pill's brother Brett Pill was a first baseman for the Giants for a short time.

Here's Tyler at the Hoover Dam with his wifey.

We're entirely fucked.

Pillie finally gave up his first run last night, throwing eight innings in the 51's 9-1 win over Tacoma. His record is upped to 3-0 over six starts across two levels, but his ERA is raised to 0.24.

You can sorta fake awesome for 30 innings.

Pill's previous record makes this year's rebirth a little... (pushes down sunglasses) tough to swallow.

It was the Orioles but yeah. They also placed him on the DL today so I don't know what happened.

He came in the game in the first inning after starter Wade Miley took consecutive line drives off his bare hand. Bizarre.

Mets were among the teams at last week's Doug Fister showcase
With several teams needing starting help (now as it ever was) Fister* is expected to land a major league contract with one of them.

Time for a Pill update as the Mets are considering ... wait for it ... taking a Pill to replace Mayday Milone's next sked start (presumably Saturday).

He's now allowed 10 ER over 46 IP at AAA Vegas, meaning that since that opening 3 game/19 inning start it's been 10 ER allowed in the last 27 IP
He's actually allowed 19 runs overall in 56 AA & AAA innings this year but, stunningly, nearly half of them (9 of the 19) were unearned!!
Still a nice 1.17 WHIP, especially nice for the PCL and Vegas, and a reasonable walk rate of 2.5/9, otherwise known as about 1/3 of what current NYM hurlers are putting up these days.
The K-rate is super low for this era (0.5/IP) but, as demonstrated by our current mound mates, strikeouts don't always guarantee success.

Whatever the missing ingredient to this staff is, trying to squeeze one more year out of Bartolo Colon wasn't it.
8 more earned runs tonight in just 3-plus innings vs Philly, all tacked onto an ERA and WHIP which began the night at 6.99 and 1.66

Yikes!
