Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I like the ball low. I top almost everything I hit. I'm shameless about hitting into the shift. I can disappear for a month at a time. Often the first month. I produce low averages. Yet somehow, going into the fourth year of my Mets contract, I've managed to remain a productive player.I've been a gregarious and generous and charitable public figure. I've stepped up in the leadership department in David Wright's absence. I've played out of position. I've batted wherever in the lineup, with no regards to how it may or may not affect my game. And I've shed the Yankee taint like few before me. But how long can I keep this juggling act going? One more year? You decide?[fimg=321:316zzfpo]http://mets.locals.baseballprospectus.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2016/04/USATSI_9248948.jpg[/fimg:316zzfpo] [fimg=379:316zzfpo]http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2015/10/31/images/mlbf_527067183_th_45.jpg[/fimg:316zzfpo][fimg=348:316zzfpo]http://www.gammonsdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/curtis-granderson-mets.jpg[/fimg:316zzfpo] [fimg=352:316zzfpo]http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.2024424.1416978114!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/article_970/rangers-mets-baseball.jpg[/fimg:316zzfpo]
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I see that as we've moved from "F" to "G" in the alphabet, we've switching from "Foreseeing" to "Edge of"Anyway, Granderson has been a terrific Met, and I expect to always have fond memories of him. He's been forgiven for his Yankees taint. This is very likely to be his last year as a Met, unless some unforeseen circumstances lead the Mets to bring him back on a one-year contract for 2018. It's not likely, but possible.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Yesterday a ball that my mind saw Lagares easily pocketing went way over Granderson's head for extra bases. All that stuff about his good citizenship is true and I suppose weighs in his favor over Cousin Brucie when they inevitably trade one of them.If his brand could withstand it, Grandyman would be a decent bench player: Gets on base, can run, versatile enough in the OF, can pop one out now and again, Staubian veteran leadershipness. You can't figure on him going on starting forever.I'm guessing he sees a minimum 20% PA decrease which would be something like:120 games, 450 PA, 20-50, 235/335/450

The folks in Sweden thought so. They said it has a certain "Stand back!" quality.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 It does have a certain amount of panache.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 The is woo little panache left in Granderson's game350 AB 8 HR 24 RBI.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Poor Curtis was traded to the Yanks rather than going as a willing free agent. I felt bad for him.I don't see him doing well in a part-time role, but I wish him all the best.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Great guy, but I think the productivity will take a downturn..235 - 17- 50 in 120 games.Later
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Hurt in May and finds a return from the DL in June not easy becauseof the logjam of outfield offensive brilliance.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 Craig Minervini, citing a "well placed source," says there's a deal on the table for Curtis Granderson and René Rivera, both out of the lineup.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Is Minervini still working the Marlins sidelines for their broadcasts?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Some other Guy says it's the Astros for 3 ptbnls
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 If Grandy gets dealt tonight -- or at least prior to tomorrow's game -- his swan song AB will be that Grandy Slam
