The Sabathia v. Boston "feud" gets better (more like 'handbags at twenty paces' as our Irish friend here would say).

To review:
- Sabathia called the Red Sox "weak" for stooping to bunting (once!) in Thursday's game. The bunt, by the second batter of the game, was a bad one and an easy out but C.C. threw it wide for an E1
(the runner never scored)

- Jim Rice on NESN responds: “What is he talking about? Bunting is part of the game. You try to get on base any way you can. If you tell him to leave some of that chicken, that donut and that burger
weight [behind then] maybe his leg will be OK that he can field that baseball. That’s just stupid.”

- Sabathia counters: "Never met him, I just hope when I’m that age I’m not that bitter.” but then added; “I laughed. I can’t go back and forth with him. ... I’m a fat guy so he’s right. I don’t know what
to say ... [my weight] is what it is, I've been pitching for 17 years this way”

Didn't see any bit of the Yanqui game today so am just now checking the box score.

- O's lead 6-4, closer Zach Britton in to pitch the bottom of the 9th
- Ellsbury hits a one out double then moves to 3rd on Gardner's GO. Two outs, tying run at the plate = Aaron Judge
- Showalter elects to IW Judge!!, a move that not only puts the tying run with at least decent speed on base but brings the winning run to the plate in the form of Gary Sanchez,
a guy just as likely as Judge to park one out there and win the game. Both are RH hitters (Britton throws lefty) so there's seemingly no advantage on that front and I wouldn't thing either
has been around long enough to have compiled a meaningful track record one way or the other against Britton

Sanchez wound up striking out to end the game so it all worked out and the O's win their first game in like three weeks -- but has anyone got a clue as to what Buck is thinking there?
I've said before that opposing teams seem to put on their Stupid hats when playing the Yanx. And while I'm pretty sure that most of the time that's just my MFY hatred showing its head - I'm
starting to think that maybe not.

I dunno. I was thinking the other day that maybe Buck was on Sandy's next-manager radar though.

He'd get crucified for some of the calls he makes to a largely adoring O's fans base.

Yeah, Buck still retains full and complete faith down here.

And really if you're an O's fan, why not? Remember what a sh&%tshow that organization was? All you heard from the national media was how that team could never be successful with the meddling Angelos as the owner.

Since Buck has been there, that narrative has disappeared. I don't know, maybe in Baltimore Angelos still casts a big shadow. But even if just for pushing the owner into the background I'd maintain complete faith in Buck.

Buck wants real control, something Sandy (or the Wilpons) would never give him.

When I see names like Bob Geren being floated, makes you think they're going to want a yes-man at the helm.

So Buck can stay content in Birdland.

The Twins are fucking useless.

Only update I could find on the fan was that she was a little girl watching the game with her grandparents and that she had been hospitalized.

Then an old buddy came through with the scoop.
