His route on Contreras' hit was even worse. I think Cespedes makes that play.

Just because you are, it doesn't mean that stuff isn't true. And I'm saying that from experience at being a ranting old man.

Kluber hasn't looked sharp all game, even when he's gotten outs. I'm amazed that Terry F. hasn't gotten someone (Shaw? Salazar? ) up in the pen yet.

Maybe it's just the Cubs time. In that 4th inning you had aHBP on an 0-2 count; a botched throw on a potential DP by Napoli and the Davis play.

When you figure it's the second start in a row on short rest and the third time in barely a week that Cubs hitters are seeing the same pitcher, that there's at least some fall-off shouldn't be too surprising.

Maddon so far seems like he's willing to be quicker with the hook than Francona.

1-1 after 3, but the game's much closer than the score indicates.

seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians" have hit into some hard outs.

And I get all this 'the game is different now' and 'it's a new generation' stuff, and when it comes to overt celebrating and the like I'm fine with all that.
But it's Game 7 of the WS, HOW THE FUCK is Fowler not running on his leadoff HR which got over the wall by like 2 feet? If that's off the wall instead of over it he's lucky to get hisself a double instead of what could quite possibly be a sure triple (or more?).

Less seriously but still odd is seeing Schwarber immediately making sure that he didn't hurt Lindor on his slide, as if that's his first thought at being thrown out on an attempted double.

Or I'm just an old man ranting.

oe: and how did the 2nd base ump mess up that earlier force play when Baez tried to bare-hand the ball??

Than I'll rant with you. Running hard to first is so basic.
And the Baez barehand-was that West?- the ump was right there and it was so clear that he never had a handle.

Not West but John Hirschbeck in what will be the final game of his career.

Wherever he's going, he should take West and Angel Hernandez with him.
OE: Looks like they've pierced Miller's cloak of invincibility. 5-1 Cubs.

WoW! Ross with 2 miscues makes it 5-3. Damn, that be a shame if Ross ends up the goat.

Can someone explain the WIN IT FOR DAVID ROSS thing? He won a ring with the Sox three years ago.

This was brought up a week or two ago.
He just seems to be extraordinarily popular with both his teammates and the Chicago fans despite being in that town for just the last two of his 15 ML seasons.
He's 'Grandpa Rossy' to his young teammates.

So here's my question about Ross: if he's so important to Lester's success that they pull the superior hitting Contreras in Game 7 of the WS to placate Lester coming out of the pen, doesn't that suggest a significant drop-off for Lester next season? ... not to mention the four seasons they're on the hook for after that.

Oh maaaan, Lester still had plenty of time to get two. I think he's a bit of a headcase with the throwing to bases business.

And then there's THAT problem moving forward as well.

It's for that reason I don't think Ross's departure effects him in the least.
