Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Jake Thompson vs. Robert Gsellman. May the best Mets team win. Those of you attending today, have a great day.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 And may there be at least another half dozen games at Citi Field this year after this one.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Between the number of road games that remain -- six -- and the TBD status of the Mets' season, this looms as the least conclusive Home Closer in club history. The last home game of 1998 had the Mets in this kind of flux, but there were only three (horrible) games left once they departed Shea. Four games remained at Wrigley in 1973. They needed the final game in 1999 to determine whether they'd have one the next night in Cincinnati. 2007 and 2008 we know too well, but we were going to get our answer ASAP. Here it's both must-win and plenty of time to go.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Today's starter, 22 y/o RH Jake Thompson, is another guy who came to Philly via the Cole Hamels deal though originally a 2nd round pick by Detroit.Made his ML debut on Aug 6th; 9 starts total [3-5, 5.62, 1.47]; got knocked around pretty good early but has been better lately.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Good inning by Gselly, 'cept when it wasn't.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Maybe, just maybe, Bruce is finding it.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 OOO, finally Gsellman's bunting practice pays off! Beats one out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Curtis Granderson sucks his way to 30 homers. God bless that man.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 We Met fans keep writing Curtis off and he keep writing himself back into things again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I'm almost tempted to pinch-hit there.Another option is a one-armed swing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I have a lot of opinions about Terry, but I pretty much question every decision Pete Mackanin makes.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Did Joe West even make a call when Bruce scampered home on that short passed ball or did he just figure that the dropped relay (which I didn't initially detect and I don't think Gary did either) was enough to indicate that the runner was safe and so actually making the 'Safe' sign was more energy than he cares to expend unless totally necessary?

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Conclusive or not, one helluva game for Gsellman.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Life is good when you're José Reyes and you come to the plate with the bags juiced three times in a row, even though you bat leadoff.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 God, I hope this bullpen doesn't figure things out before the Mets face them again next week.BOOM! Grand slam!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Let's empty the bench on the plus side of things this time.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Cabrera is zooming up my list of all time favorite Mets. I never would have predicted that. He's a warrior on the level of Keith Hernandez AND he looks like he's having fun out there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Four hit batsmen. What a staff.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I think the Mets are going to win this one.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 COULD HAVE USED TWO OR THREE OF THESE RUNS YESTERDAY, GUYS!!!

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 This is awesome
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) It's like Keith takes sloppy play like this as an insult to the legacy of his own playing era. And, btw, suck on this score you late-starting games!! Edited September 25, 2016 by Guest
