Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Syndergaard vs AJ ColeThis one sounds like the matchup is in our favor but we lost the last time these two faced each other 11 days ago as we wound up with just one run on four hits for the night.Cole's other three starts this year weren't nearly as good making him seemingly the latest in a whole line of hurlers who have either their only win or the best start of their season vs the Mets. And while it's easy to say that this is not a MUST win game or series because of the schedule which follows, remember how well that 'easy' sked worked out back in 2007 where shirley those final six games vs the 90-loss Nationals & Marlins would save us. Then one win and five losses later we were cooked. So while it was nice of the Cardinals and the Giants to combine for a total of just one run and six hits last night, we can't count on that continuing and I'd prefer that we NOT put ourselves in the position where we go into these upcoming series with the notion that we should and need to sweep them. Things don't always go according to script in baseball, the sport is kind of funny that way.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I'm discouraged by failing once again in what I think was our 3rd or 4th attempt to pierce the Magical 10-games-over-.500 barrier. I dunno about you guys, but as a general rule I'm skeptical of "believing" in a team until they reach this level -- particularly this one: I've been waiting to buy in forever, just telling myself: Let's get 10 games over, then go from there. Early in the season and now late, it's not happened yet.TEN. I WANT TEN.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I want deGrom and Matz to go into some kind of time share for a rotation spot. Let them each pitch once every ten days and keep trotting out Thor, Barty, Jizz-ellman and Loogie out there in the interim.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 And Mike Scott too, while we're at it.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Noah is up, we have a shot!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Noah's already been stung by a stolen base. 1-0 Washington.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Strands a guy at third, let's get that run back!
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Dear Sandy,I want to express my appreciation for your decision to sign Astrubel Cabrera. We can discuss Antonio Bastardo a different day.Sincerely,Mets Guy
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Did you see that huge lead Cabrera was getting off third base while Bruce was batting and the Washington infield was shifted to the right?I couldn't help but wonder if Cabrera could have stolen home if he burst for the plate as the catcher was throwing the ball back to the pitcher. You can do that, right?Anyway, I'm glad he didn't try it, because he scored on T.J. Rivera's single.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 What Cabrera has done with a bad leg is nothing short of remarkable.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Nobody remarking on the Mets taking the 3-1 lead. Clearly everybody's riveted by the Music Triv Derby.Nine hits!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Tying run at the plate, and the side is whiffed. Now, how about they run Turner?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Murphy might have exceeded Armando Benitez' record for greatest revenge season by an ex-Met ever.

Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Noah's up to about 90 pitches. Do you send him out for the seventh? I feel more confident with him than some of the other options, but that last out was a pretty loud one.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 I thought Rendon got enough of that one at the end of the 6th inning.< 90 pitches is fine for 6 innings ... so of course Syndy starts the 7thwould be nice to have more than a 3-1 lead considering the 10-4 lead in hits
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Noah cruising tonight. All kinds of filth.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 Hell, I'd be tempted to let him start the 8th.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 My soccer-playin' daughter's been dealing with blisters for a month and we've tried everything. Just ordered a can of this. Keith Hernandez swears by it!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 Another gem from the (almost) always dominant AND efficient Addison Reed.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 I was hoping that Gott and Teufel would get into a scrap as they passed each other near the 3rd base line. They finally could have settled that ancient struggle once and for all.
