Instead of the standard practice of automatically awarding it to the home team, I think they should get creative tonight in front of a national TV audience and pair off the two starters in some sort of pre-game contest to determine who gets to bat last.
- The simplest might just be to have the 6' 5" (and former Notre Dame tight end) Samardzija and the 6' 6" Syndergaard jump center right there on the mound. Whoever comes down with the baseball gets first choice.
- Either that or a pop quiz to see who is the first one to spell the other guy's last name correctly.

On a side note, this might be the two longest last names as opposing starters since Jason Isringhausen faced off against William VanLandingham back on May 29, 1996 at Shea.

Looks beautiful there, I'd love to be by the bay in shorts and a sweatshirt sipping
Anchor Steam and eating garlic fries right now.

Last inning was the Hunter Pence Bullshit inning, this is apparently the Little League Bullshit inning. And next we have Terry telling us how he thinks Syndergaard is pitching well so far as the game is reduced to a small box.

I'm watching on ESPN Deportes. It's way more pleasant this way.

I just switched over, thanks for the reminder!

They made this game so uninteresting I snoozed off for a bit. Need a cup O coffee to make it thru the rest of this.

These Sunday night broadcasters are insipid. I wish each week they'd show Aaron Boone getting hit in the ribs with a 99 MPH fastball.

The other good news is that they're 2/3 of the way through the game in just an hour and a half -- which is even more remarkable when you consider that it's a longer-commercial national game -- so there's less of a chance that this one will last until midnight like the usual SNB games.
Of course that's all providing that someone, y'know, scores a run at some point.
