I didn't see it so I am asking the group: what was your opinion when Terry took out Lugo? Lugo had only thrown 69 pitches but there were 2 runners on, a lefty batter and Blevins was available. Shouldn't Terry have known that Bochy would PH with a righty or was Lugo clearly tiring (he had been pitching out of the bullpen) and it was the proper move regardless of what Bochy did?

Getting up in the morning and reading these IGTs is getting depressing

There wasn't one obvious move.
The pitch count was still low but Lugo had just given up hits to three of his last seven hitters including a double that was a HR in most parks. Due up was the LH-swinging Panik, then the pitcher, then Span (LH).
So he could pitch Lugo to Panik there, bring in Blevins to do so, or IW Panik forcing Bochy to either bat Cueto there w/2 outs or remove him. He chose the last.
Bochy announced a LH PH -- Terry went to Blevins -- Bochy switches to SW-hitter Ehire Adrianza, a 26 y/o .222 career hitter w/just 23 ABs this season.
Adrianza singles as does Span after him; both were essentially grounders which simply found a hole but that's the way things have gone this year, they get 2-out hits, we don't.

Definitely, though I doubt it is as depressing as actually watching their pathetically anemic offense on a nightly basis.

Pathetic folks. Absolutely pathetic. Stick a freakin' fork in 'em.

My sentiments exactly. The Mets have suffered some key injuries this season (particularly Wright, Duda, Harvey & Cespedes) which have hurt them a great deal, but virtually all teams suffer injuries during the course of the long season. Good teams find a way to compensate and endure, the Mets certainly have not done that. The current team, is too flawed to be a playoff team, in my opinion. They have too many low BA/low OBP guys with power that appear incapable of delivering base hits with regularity. The team can't string together hits and move runners along, so they live and die by the home run (generally solo shots since no one gets on base with regularity).

They're also fucking stupid and lazy. Just saw the highlights. This team is an embarrassment.

You have to fire the manager.

I was hoping Lugo could finish the inning but was not surprised or against his removal. He did look like he was laboring at that point and had pitched in relief just a few days prior. TC had to know which way that chess game would go (I don't want to know if he didn't). The PH wasn't someone to worry about. Blevins couldn't get it done.

I have more of an issue with Collins saying to the world before the game that he only expected so much out of Seth (was it 5? 6 innings?). That could get in the pitchers head. Why say anything at all? Or say, "How long he goes depends on how he pitches". Don't box 'em in.

Awww. Thank you Coob. It's nice to be a part of a community that can pick me up when I'm down. We may be picking each other up a lot from here on out.
