G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 The Kansas City Royals return to Queens tonight. Noah Syndergaard will throw the first pitch at them at 7:10 PM.Did I say at them? One can hope.Travis d'Arnaud should be behind the plate and hopefully teeing off on Ian Kennedy.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Kansas City at NY MetsWhen: 7:10 PM ET, Tuesday, June 21, 2016Where: Citi Field, New York City, New YorkSportsDirect Inc.The Kansas City Royals were both drinking and wearing champagne during their last visit to Citi Field, having wrapped up the second World Series title in franchise history with a five-game dismissal of the New York Mets. The Royals have regained their swagger from last season as they've won eight of their last nine contests heading into Tuesday's opener of an abbreviated two-game interleague series against the Mets.Salvador Perez has seen his batting average jump 40 points on the strength of an 11-game hitting streak, however the World Series MVP is just 2-for-13 in his regular-season career versus the Mets. While Kansas City erupted for 28 runs in winning the last three contests of its four-game series with Detroit, New York saw its offense go limp in a three-game sweep at the hands of cellar-dwelling Atlanta. The Mets, who have lost six of their last eight overall, mustered just four runs, batted .156 and struck out 21 times in the weekend series. Travis d'Arnaud (strained rotator cuff) will be looked upon to provide a jolt as the catcher is expected to be activated from the disabled list prior to the series.TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, FSN Kansas City, SNY (New York)PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals RH Ian Kennedy (5-5, 4.17 ERA) vs. Mets RH Noah Syndergaard (7-2, 1.91)Kennedy was fortunate to walk away with his first win since May 7 on Wednesday, although his performance left a bit to be desired. The 31-year-old allowed four runs on five hits - including two homers - in a 9-4 victory over Cleveland and has been taken deep eight times and yielded 16 runs in his last three outings. The road hasn't been kind for Kennedy, who is just 3-4 with a 5.44 ERA in eight starts this season.Syndergaard exacted a small measure of revenge against Kansas City after recording nine strikeouts over six dominating innings during a 2-0 triumph in the second game of the season. The quality start is nothing new for the 23-year-old fireballer, who has posted seven in a row if one dismisses his early ejection versus the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 28. Syndergaard has 11 quality starts this season and permitted just 18 earned runs in 85 innings.WALK-OFFS:1. New York OF Michael Conforto collected his team's lone hit in a 6-0 setback on Sunday, but is mired in an 8-for-67 slump and reportedly is being considered for a demotion to Triple-A Las Vegas.2. Royals 1B Eric Hosmer has hit safely in 11 of his last 14 games and recorded three hits in his team's 4-3 season-opening victory over the Mets on April 3.3. Kansas City rookie 2B Whit Merrifield has two homers, eight RBIs and nine runs scored during his eight-game hitting streak.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 flip flop. Noah pushed back to tomorrow so his next start aligns with the Nats.Bartolo tonight.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Royals since May 27: 6 game winning streak -- followed by 8 game losing streak -- followed by their present stretch of 8 wins in 9 games (all off AL Central rivals)Not sure what to make of all that - but it leaves them 1.0 game behind ClevelandOn DL since we last saw them: LF Alex Gordon; 3B Mike Moustakas (out for season); 2B Omar InfanteAll of the replacements are guys you've never heard of [brett Eibner, Whit Merrifield, Chelsea Cuthbert] but of course most of them are hitting .300+ and can probably run & field too.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Not to suggest his hitting this season has earned it but I don;t think plopping d'Arnaud in the 8 hole is doing anything to get him going. I've said this before but he seems like No. 2 hitter to me, at least when he's right.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I'm just hoping that the Mets out-score Messi tonight. I put the odds at about 50/50
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Fuck! Bartolo comes out of the game with a thumb injury!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Cabrera is unimpressed by Jos Reyes chatter.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Who takes Bartolo's spot in the rotation? Not Logan Verrett, please. Gabriel Ynoa? http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=593679#/career/R/pitching/2016/ALL
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I don't think we know if he'll be out, but for now, the number six starter is Sean Gilmartin.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 So they call up a long guy who just pitched Sunday and isn't available? And their starter goes out after 4 pitches? Well, alrighty then.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Robles bails on the change-up away, but he's got a nice cut.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Robles is pitching well but you get the feeling he could blow up at any second.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Bastardo warming in the pen. I have fear.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Robles out for another inning? Tempting fate, Terry.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I appreciate trying to get him a win, but Terry might have tried to get too much milk out of this cow.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Nice job by Goeddel to squirm out of it with the lead.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Did Dillon get a ring ceremony before the game?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Keith is quite the flamboyant ham tonight.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I missed a Cespedes homer! Double gah! Was it a 2 run job?Ugh, my internet has been horrible tonight. Slower than a crawl. It took minutes for MLBtv to load and now it's frozen. Triple gah!
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Mets are only allowed to hit solo home runs. Asdruboom was the other.
