Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Cincinnati at NY MetsWhen: 7:10 PM ET, Tuesday, April 26, 2016Where: Citi Field, New York City, New YorkSportsDirect Inc.Michael Conforto has grown accustomed to batting third in the lineup, and the New York Mets have benefited as a result. Conforto looks to continue his stellar run at the plate as the Mets vie for their 10th consecutive win over the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday when the clubs play the middle contest of their three-game beat down. The 23-year-old homered in New York's 5-3 victory in the series opener on Monday to improve to 14-for-37 with three blasts and eight RBIs in his last 10 games. Conforto also scored on two-run homers by both Lucas Duda and Neil Walker as New York recorded its fourth win in a row and ninth in 11 outings while handing Cincinnati its sixth setback in seven road contests. Adding injury to the Reds' insult was the loss of Brandon Phillips, who was hit on the left hand by a pitch from Noah Syndergaard and exited in the fifth inning. X-rays were negative for the three-time All-Star second baseman, although his availability is unknown heading into Tuesday's contest.TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), SNY (New York)PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds LH Brandon Finnegan (1-1, 3.74 ERA) vs. Mets RH Bartolo Colon (1-1, 2.89)Finnegan suffered his first loss on Thursday after he allowed five runs on seven hits in four innings against the Chicago Cubs in a game that is best remembered for counterpart Jake Arrieta's no-hitter. The 23-year-old was taken deep on two occasions last time out, matching the total of his previous three outings. Finnegan, who has yet to face the Mets in his young career, limited his walks as he permitted just a pair against the Cubs after issuing nine free passes in his previous two outings.Colon will make his second attempt to record win No. 220, which would move him past Pedro Martinez for second-most among Dominican-born pitchers. The 42-year-old Colon was denied in his initial bid on Wednesday after allowing three runs on four hits in six innings en route to a no-decision against Philadelphia. Colon has enjoyed success versus the Reds in his career, posting a 4-1 mark - although his 3.77 ERA and .273 batting average against provide cause for concern.WALK-OFFS:1. Cincinnati SS Zack Cozart, who has hit safely in 13 of 14 contests, had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly on Monday and has three RBIs and four runs scored in his last three games.2. New York OF Yoenis Cespedes had fluid drained from his right knee on Monday, but is listed as "day-to-day" by the team.3. Reds OF Jay Bruce was placed on paternity list Monday and later welcomed son Carter, who was born at 9:08 p.m.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Finnegan is the guy who, in 2014, went virtually straight from the college World Series (w/TCU) to the ML World Series. In between he was KC's #1 draft pick (17th overall), then had just 27 innings of minor league ball and 7 innings of ML pitching before becoming the Royals' go-to lefty in the post-season.His ride through 2015 wasn't nearly so smooth as he bounced around five different teams on three different levels (AA, AAA, ML) for two different orgs marked notably by the late July trade to Cincy as part of the deal sending Cueto to KC.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 That's three key regulars either sitting or injured. And it's still not a bad lineup.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Eric Campbell still looking for his first start.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Scoreless in the second. Grandy got picked in the first on a move that was likely a balk.Duvall can't put the ball in play so far this series.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 This would seem to be the type of team that could eat up Coln, but the ump has a wide zone and Bartolo knows how to exploit that.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Wright batting third and Conforto fourth. I don't believe I have seen that yet.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I understand the reasoning, kind of in emergency mode until d' & Cess get back. Conforto looks like he'll just take this is stride.Personally, I wouldn't mess with him. I'd move Lags to lead off and drop Grandy to 4th.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Both of those hits...COMEON! OOO, Holt gives himself up for no reason. Yay!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Votto sac fly makes it 1-0 visitors.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 David Wright is way too whiffy these days.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Well yea, if you keep running around we are gonna hit you in the elbows! Deal w/it!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! Walker w/a great play to start the DP.Losing 3-0. Come on, lets get something going.Gah! Nats tied the Phils, 3-3.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Mets have had the leadoff man on in virtually every inning but nothing pushed across.Being limited to one hit tends to do that to a team.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I'm gonna say an encouraging at bat by Wright. Didn't K, moved Grandy to third. Conforto pops out. Long ball please Mr Walker.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Franco just drove in the go ahead run in Philly. Crushed a drive to center but took a bad spill rounding first and is hurt. Phils lead Nats by a run in the 7th, 4-3.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Captain Wright PULLS one over third, Mets lead, 4-3.Gah, Dave picked off.
