Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 He has the only unscarred elbow in the pitching rotation. It's like the sword of Damocles hanging over the guy. The scalpel of Damocles.OE: And how about the all-new Ring-and-Run Terry?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 About as good a set of news as you had any right to hope for. Céspedes is day-to-day and Syndy's MRI has shown no structural damage and he's being treated with anti-inflammatories.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Wheeler, too: no structural damage; sensory nerve issue, treated with cortisone shot and a couple of days' rest before getting back on the throwing-routine cycle.

They always underplay things. This is precisely why Terry would have preferred to keep things under wraps. now whenever Syndy has a bad day, and even when he doesn't, he'll face questions about the elbow. Not saying the team should have succeeded in that, just that injuries are such a messy thing to endute.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Matz. Has to be at least kinda hurt if you don't throw your slider all game right? Mets downplaying.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I think typical time for that sort of injury is six-eight weeks, so I would guess we'll look for him around the time of the trade deadline.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 It's almost like it would be easier to keep track of who's not DL'd,injured, banged up, day to day, nursing a ________, might retire,or almost set to return...Wonder how Yo's ankle woke up this morning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 The funny thing is that they haven't called up an outfielder all season. Bumps and bruises though there have been many, the only Mets outfielder that has hit the disabled list has been Lagares, and the Mets replaced him with an infielder in the person of Ty Kelly, and subsequently replaced Kelly with a pitcher.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Concerned about Matz's elbow. He referred to it as being tight but "nothing unusual."

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Newsday reporting surgery may be required.WASHINGTON — Steven Matz could be facing elbow surgery to treat a bone spur that has forced him to deal with lingering discomfort, multiple sources told Newsday on Monday.Matz’s elbow ligament is not damaged. But the spur is causing pain, and the Mets are concerned that it has impacted his performance.Matz is scheduled to start on Wednesday but the Mets have not committed to it. Matz is 7-3 with a 3.29 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 76 2/3 innings this season.
