He gets it done. But I dunno about Bastardo. I saw him a lot on the Phils. He doesn't look the same.
Conforto is off to a nice little start. Walker too. Wright looks solid as far as his back goes. Good game

Solid victory without any real contribution from Grandy or Cespedes. Feeling a little better but there's concern about deGrom's lat.

Missed the very end b/c my daughter in law stopped in

Enjoyed this very much guys. I don't get to join in very often so I really have to say it's fun :D

Can't believe Oddibe McDowell is still playing, much less getting 2-out RBI singles.

Joke? Oddibe hung em up in 94.

I'm watching with the sound way down: Was that an infield fly rule double play???

was one of those that had me going "what the fuck just happened" And then reconstructing it in my head. I didn't catch the infield fly thing, and then Wright dropped it and you're instantly thinking 'fuck' but then he ran at the guy hung up between first and second and I was all confused until I figured it out.

Mets did actually play that perfectly though. It's kind of funny that the wind seems like it helped the Phillies by keeping Wright from catching an easy one but actually it screwed 'em.

also, the Phillies are bad. I was remarking to my friend listening to the roster that it might be more beneficial to cheer the Phillies that are on your fantasy team than boo them for being on the Phillies as they're being announced.

This is the time of year when I delurk and make an annual posting, lol.

Great time at Citi Field today.

- I had an early morning meeting, so I couldn't participate in any tailgating activities. I left Westbury at 11:45 and was at the Citi Field exit on the LIE by 12:20. No traffic at all, surprising to me.

- Of course, my late arrival meant no parking in the main lots. Parked somewhere in Flushing Meadows, then boarded shuttle buses to Citi. Buses ran surprisingly efficient, once one bus was full, another one was there. Buses were new and clean.

- Missed the opening ceremony but made it in plenty of time before first pitch. Seats were in the first row in right field, right next to the foul pole.

- It was COLD with a few breaks of sunshine mixed in. Food lines were LONG so we opted for the shortest line we could find--the sausage, peppers, and onion stand. Good food to have on a cold day.

- They brought back the "Professor Reyes" bit, only now it's Cespedes doing the "teaching."

- The Ford car character race was as lame as it sounded, maybe even lamer. The fans in right field (near where the finish line was) loudly booed the whole spectacle.

- Speaking of the fans in right field, they got on Cedric Hunter, and the rest of the parade of right fielders that were put out there. Granderson was playful with us in right field, which everyone liked.

- Nice to see some runs put up on the board, even if the home run hasn't shown up much yet. Loved Walker, Conforto and Duda looked great, nice to see the Captain get a hit, and Cespedes seemingly is coming around as well.

- Loved Jim Henderson out of the 'pen.

- Crowd erupted when the Mets got their 10th strikeout, because that meant everyone got a free six inch sub from Subway!

- We DID hit traffic coming out of the stadium, but after all, it was a Friday in the middle of rush hour, whattaya expect?

My only regret was not being able to see the usual faces I see on Opening Day from here. Hope everyone who attended had a great time as well!

We missed seeing you too Lundy!

Yes, a fun but COLD time was had by all. We arrived early for our customary Opening Day tailgate party, enjoying visits from Kase, Ceetar, G-Fafif and many other friends. The game was great to watch, although we didn't realize until the ride home that deGrom has a lat issue. And beating up on the Phillies never gets old.

And I may finally be thawing out....

Always great! Nice tradition.

It was sad, I hope it's short-lived.

heh. I guess I left before G-Fafif got there. (waves from the future)

Had just enough time to do a quick circuit of the park and see what's new before getting to my seat just as they were doing the 2015 recap leading into intros, so I count that a win on timing.

Great to hear from lundy, and I took a keen interest in his assessment of the Ford character race. Maybe it won't last the year.

It's funny how people can get behind a relatively half-baked idea if it's our own, but instantly sniff out the inanity in a borrowed idea.

I imagine this wasn't so much the case decades back when there was less ballpark-to-ballpark tourism and national baseball media, and so we were less sophisticated about other organization's gimmicks.
