Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Hey, I've been the best pitcher on this staff for two years, and I'm still not getting opening day. Oh, but you're old for a third-year pitcher. Oh, but you're a post-op surprise. Oh, but you never gave fanbois in Baseball America never got high minor league prospect rankings to drool over.Shut up. It makes me uncomfortable. All I do is deGrominate. And the rest of that is scarcely relevant and frankly kind of creepy. I intend to deGrominate further in 2016, and you can feel free to disagree. What do you think?[fimg=400]https://metsmlb.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/jacob-degrom-1-slice7.jpg?w=555&h=315[/fimg] [fimg=325]http://www.cheatsheet.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/GettyImages-475564902.jpg?d74352[/fimg][fimg=360]http://static01.nyt.com/images/2015/10/11/sports/baseball/11powell-1/11powell-1-master675.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=365]https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/2FivL1klquN07eQEstax8nP5ZSc=/0x0:4000x2667/1310x873/cdn0.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/33058311/20140513_kkt_ae5_176.jpg.0.jpg[/fimg]
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Are his aches and pains this Spring something to be concerned about?I think not. They're the typical Spring Training ouchies, as muscles get back into shape. He will work his arse off to get the ace label on this talented staff. The results?18-6, 2.67, 8.7 K/IP 1.14 WHIP.Later
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 His fastball is averaging 91-92 so far this spring. That's a significant drop off from his normal 95+. Maybe its just ST, and the 200+ IP he threw last year are having no lasting effect. Or maybe...I'll split the difference between DeGrominator and an average SPer... 15-10 / 3.20 ERA / 175 K

Between that and that deGrom was off his game some from sometime in September 2015 through the WS .. and I don't what that's supposed to mean. But I'm paying attention. Because I know what it could mean. This is the year that the rubber hits the road on the trend that whenever a Met right-handed pitcher wins the Rookie of the Year award, the Mets win the WS two seasons after.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I had a feeling this off-season that SI might cover the Mets pitchers on the Baseball Issue. But in my mind, Syndergaard was no doubt about it on that cover.

It's the Baseball Issue ferchrissakes. Boy have magazine covers in general gone downhill over the last 10-15 years. Every magazine cover looks the same: a celebrity and the entire table of contents as a wall of text plastered all over everything. SI included, although this cover is not that bad, at least in comparison to what SI now routinely puts out.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I also hate that SI now has regional covers. I have a gaggle of Cubs smiling back at me in my local supermarket checkout line this week on the cover of SI.Hopefully, the curse spreads to them too.
