For all Coked-up CPA's.

Asdrubal Cabrera: $9.25 million
Bartolo Colon: $7.25 million
Alejandro De Aza: $5.75 million

Total: $22.25 million

If you want to throw in:

Jerry Blevins: $4 million (I actually like this deal)

Total comes to $26.25 million.

This is a ton of money to spend on marginal talent.

I just got back from my dealer (sniff sniff). . .

Rubin's original $92.2 million

- $12.5 million (Cuddyer)

- $9 million (Niece)

+ $10.7 million (Walker)

+ $8.25 million (Cabrera)

+ $4 million (Blevins)

+ $7.25 million (Colon)

+ $5.75 million (De Aza)

=$106.65 million

I am still holding out hope for a 20% marginal increase from last season's approximate Opening Day payroll of $100 million (I will not surrender my stance of that being totally reasonable considering it is the median of last season's average payroll for all of MLB and that this is a defending National League Champion playing out of New York). $120 million - $106.65 million still leaves room for Ryan Raburn and another veteran relief pitcher (be it Clippard, Albers, or Bastardo).

I know a lot of people are happy with all these puzzle pieces
here and puzzle pieces there... at the end of the day, the Mets
ain't built to sweep what the Cubs have done this off-season in
a regualar-season series let alone a championship series.

And they're probably (most likely) not done.

You can cherry pick all want and sip your orange beer out of your
royal blue mug but when the Cubs are in the World Series and we're
here working on 2017 moves I'm going to have to throw it your face.

I should go back and find all the teeth-gnashing over John Mayberry. "World series here we come!"

That's some salty pretzel logic there.

Tying it to luckily getting back to the world series is borderline nuts.

it wasn't luck. At least, getting to the playoffs wasn't. Mayberry working out would've made it easier. De Aza working out will make it easier.

Catching Cespedes' lightning in a bottle was lucky?
