nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Cecchini seems to get too little respect for what he did in the minors this year. I think he has the better career than Rosario and it may not be particularly close
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 It's true, but it's a little hard to draw conclusions from, as (1) the Mets system generally promotes players from hard-hitting-environment leagues at the bottom of the system into easier hitting leagues toward the top of the system, the player who has gotten promoted the furthest to date has the advantage for presenting a better career; and(2) the Mets are pushing Amed Rosario a little harder, placing him against competition that has been 3.4 years older than him, on average, while Cecchini has been up against players 2.5 years older than him (both of which are impressive).

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Cecchini had an .819 OPS at AA this year. That's terrific. You'd have to think he puts up even better numbers in AAA. I think he has the potential to be Xander Boegarts.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 If so, we can call him Gavin Glenn Christopher Joseph Xander Boegarts Cecchini.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Like Conforto, Gavin played in the LLWS. The Mets start the scouting early. http://www.littleleague.org/Page58942.aspx
