Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 .Vote for the tabloid covers that you like the best. You may select up to three choices. Voting will run for seven days.Mets continue to lose, dropping below .500.Steven Matz prepares to make his debut, and it turns out to be a memorable one. After Matz's start, the losing continues as the Cubs shut out the Mets in two consecutive games.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Clever and original.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Strange how frequently it seems Curtis is chosen to be the one to represent the Mets offensive futility.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I noticed that too. I figgered I'd let it go, though.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 So far, I'm voting solely based on the taglines. I don't say that the photo or layout won't influence my votes, just that so far, those elements haven't.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 I think I'm the opposite. I'm more likely to vote based on the cover's visual appeal. And I think Newsday is doing a really good job with that in many cases.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I agree. Newsday's look is cleaner.I'm also not a big fan of wordplay on "Citi", Like "Party Citi", etc. It's become cliche. Now on the other hand, if the Mets were to, say, introduce some canine mascot who debuted by running all over the field and pooping all over the place (not that such a thing could ever happen) and some tabloid went with "SH**TY FIELD", I'd vote for that one.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Wonder, Incredible, No/No for me today.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Any newspaper that uses "Mess" for "Mets" should be boycotted. The sports editor should call in the headline writer and slap him up 'side the head.Later
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Mess got old decades ago, kinda like J ust E nd T he S eason...
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 The Unhappy Days and the image of Colon is so perfect, but everything else about that cover is a mess.
Guest cooby classic Guests Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I like Hometown Hero. It's nice

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2015 Author Posted November 15, 2015 It could be that if you want it to. You're only asked to pick the covers that you like, using whatever criteria you choose.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Here the trend is (other than the Colon cover) is:Mets win: feature pitcherMets Lose: feature hitter.
