Wonder what happened to the promise to work Matz in for an inning.

Not complaining, but I'm curious.

He got some work done in the bullpen.

I think Terry saw the game in front of him and played it as he saw fit. Very, very happy that he got Reed and Clippard in for an inning apiece so they didn't get too stale. And even happier that they performed.

Even Jon Niese worked out, getting Rizzo in a critical spot.

It's kind of scary that it's all working right now. To beat Arietta and go up 2-0 with DeGrom in game three versus Hendricks, a generic pitcher at best, gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Some interesting musical choices at the park. The "Piano Man" singalong persists, but a couple of innings earlier, they played "Livin' on a Prayer" which got a much better reaction. There was also - yes, believe it or not - a playing of "Who Let the Dogs Out."

In a much more positive development, after "New York Groove" was played right after the final out, then the PA played "Meet the Mets," with the full original lyrics (butcher, baker, people on streets, et al.) which was a big singalong for the second straight night as fans exited. Well done, Mets AV team.

Yes, walking out to "the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets.." was cool. fwiw, Mets fans shouting Lets Go Mets in the stairwells at Citi is A LOT louder than the ramps at Shea.

The music/scoreboard operators still don't realize starting the '2 strike' clap stuff seconds after the last pitch is WAY too early, but otherwise I applaud the creativity and wish they'd do this sorta stuff all season long.

Also amusing: They played the Beatles birthday song after Cespedes' hit. (Cause you know, it was his birthday!)

Great night at the park in section 426 with Little Solo. Not super cold because the wind wasn't so bad where we were plus we were prepared for the elements. It was however, cold enough to prevent me from posting here during the game.

Some observations:

- Stopped by the TBS broadcast area in Center just as Sheff, Dusty, and Pedro came out. Sheff had a disgusted "it's too cold for this shit" look on his face, Pedro is God and Dusty God bless him might not be much of a manager but the man is styling'

- Musical selections were cool. I liked the homage to the Valentine teams with Who Let the Dogs Out, plus the nod to the '86ers with The Curly Shuffle.

- In addition to the birthday song mentioned by Ceetar, looked like the 7 Line Army sang Happy Birthday to Cespedes in either the first or second inning.

- Is Arrieta hitting a wall? Heard this morning that he's way, way, way over his previous innings pitched for any season.

- I thought Niese and Reed were huge. Clippard too. Hopefully Reed and Clippard have bounced back from their hiccups in the Dodgers series.

- I agree with the notion that you keep Duda in the lineup at least one more game and hope he snaps out of it.

- Conforto is looking a little uncomfortable in the field. Misplayed that Turner ball in LA, looked shaky on a fly ball that Cespedes cut him off and took last night. Nerves?

- Dangerous as the Cub lineup is, their backups/bench guys don't scare you (Coghlan, La Stella, Denorfia; I know Coghlan hit one to the wall).

- Only negative was no one with Met connections throwing out the first pitch. I mean I like Jimmy Kimmel, but I could think of a lot of people I'd rather see first.

- Shortest concession lines were in left field promenade. Why? the wind there was out of control and it was at least 10 degrees colder in that tunnel than in our seats a mere 50 yards away.

229 IP this season (pre-playoff total), never more than 156 prior to this year.

Pedro is so great. Was egging on the applause from The7Line on Saturday night around the 8th when he returned to prep for postgame.
(too slow to get a solid picture)

a little bit of a shame you couldn't hear The7Line section from behind home plate, but you couldn't becaues everyone else was loud too.

Conforto I don't think had reports of being a great defender, but yeah, seemed a little shaky at times. Speaking of defense, I want to mention Flores getting the second out at first in the 9th. I feel like that's a play early in the season he rushes to get at second and ends up getting no one.

Saturday the lines in CF were really short after the game started. Shake Shack was probably only a 15 minute wait (I got Tacos in like..4 minutes) Promenade was more busy last night though. Probably just that the fan-food ratio is not as good. I got Nachos in a helmet since that was the shortest line and I didn't bring in the planned sandwich.

The trouble with eating at a cold ball game is usually you're shivering too hard to enjoy the food, which gets cold before you can eat it :)

yay! that was fun. shout out to the fans in my section who thought this was a mid-week April game yelling "down in front" at anyone that dared stand too much.

That's when you turn around and yell "Up in Back" at them.

I'm sure the Dunkin line on the field level was, but they tricked people by having the hot cocoa at the ice cream stands and only advertised via hanging sign above the cashiers so I bet a bunch of people missed it. 7:50 the guy I was with walked right up to the register.

Do they still serve ice cream at the ballpark?

I saw someone with a milkshake on Saturday night. I can't imagine how he could have enjoyed it.

Yes, and my kid actually wanted one. I steered him to peanuts and later french fries.

Bump in case you, like me, missed this one.

That's because your kid's not soft.

It was cold but if you were dressed for it, it was fine.

I saw zero lines at the ice cream stands.

Every concession stand/store was SOLD OUT of any type of ski hat. They said they sold out on Saturday night.

Very cool how at a game like that in the midst of a nice post-season run, that everyone is in a great mood. I didnt even see Cubs fans getting razzed that badly and if they were, it was the good-natured kind.

Fun to be a Mets fan in this City again.

LOL

Just had to pinch myself to keep from cackling during a work meeting.

I just remembered, and chuckled aloud, the TBS "look-in" shot of Murphy's Bar in Chicago after the Cubs scored. About a dozen losers moping around. It was beautiful.
