Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Time for Harvey to show something to the world.El mundo, Mateo!
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 My husband suggests that now that they will be back on the East Coast, they will do better because they will get to bed at a decent hour. (and maybe we will too)
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Here is a time for Harvey to endear himself to all Mets fans by not only winning the game, but making Utley look bad as well. And, with a big Mets lead in the ninth, if Terry wants to bring in someone to hit Utley in the knee with a fastball, so be it.Later
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I'm not into the retribution thing. As much as my lizard brain wants Utley plunked in the head, the ensuing ejections and suspensions (not to mention the free gift of a baserunner) would ultimately hurt the Mets more. The problem is that the institution has an ingrained sense that dirty, violent behavior is "how the game is played." Retribution would just compound that problem.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Yes we already surrendered home-field in this series for chasing some idiotic jock revenge plot. I want to get Chris Guccione fired. wtf was he thinking?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Guccione will be at 1st in Game 3 and behind the plate in Game 4. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/30041/brett-andersonGo Curtis!http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/31214/matt-harveyUtley is 6 for 18 v Harvey.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 On the eve of starting game 3 of the series, Anderson is in a massive flame war with Mets fans (and others) on Twitter. This is not a world I ever expected to live to see.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 BTW, whatever you think of Matt Harvey, he hasn't tweeted since September 11th, so point to Harvey.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Two things I think I know for sure after this very confusing weekend:1. deGrom and Syndergaard > Kershaw and Greinke2. The only reason the Dodgers aren't facing elimination tonight is because they were gifted Game 2 by the umps.It would have been really nice to be up 2-0 right now, but I still haven't seen much to convince me that the Dodgers are the better team in this series.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (93-71) at New York Mets (91-73)DATE/TIME: Monday, October 12 - 8:30 PM ESTWHERE: Citi Field, New York City, New YorkLINE: N/A TOTAL: N/APlayoff Series: Divisional Playoff; Series Tied 1-1Covers Media Group, Ltd.The New York Mets are in a position to take control of the National League Division Series with their ace on the mound heading into Game 3, but a key loss in the infield could be tough to overcome. The Mets will send Matt Harvey to the mound when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 on Monday.New York nearly pulled off the great feat of beating Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke in the first two games at Dodger Stadium but watched Game 2 spiral out of control in the seventh inning as Los Angeles' Chase Utley made a hard slide into second base that resulted in a broken leg for Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada and marked a key turning point in the contest as the Dodgers went on to take the lead in the frame and win 5-2. We'll control it, but, yeah, they're angry, New York manager Terry Collins told reporters of his players emotions going forward. You lose in a playoff series to that serious of an injury, yeah, they're not very happy about it. Harvey, who was fined for missing a mandatory workout prior to the start of the series, was limited in September in an effort to keep his workload lower following Tommy John surgery but is not expected to be on a strict pitch limit on Monday. The Dodgers went 37-44 on the road during the regular season and will turn to Brett Anderson for Game 3.TV: 8:37 p.m. ET, TBSPITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Brett Anderson (10-9, 3.69 ERA) vs. Mets RH Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71)Getting through an entire season healthy was a big step for Anderson, who made 31 starts and worked a career-high 180 1/3 innings after totaling 32 turns over the previous four campaigns. The Texan faltered a bit at the end of September but tuned up for the postseason and earned his Game 3 start by holding San Francisco to two runs and four hits over 7 2/3 frames on Oct. 1. Anderson, who is making his first career start against the Mets, surrendered one run and three hits over 6 1/3 total innings in the 2012 and 2013 ALDS with Oakland.Harvey has totaled 17 2/3 innings since Sept. 8 but allowed only two earned runs in those frames while striking out 24 and walking one. The Connecticut native faced the Dodgers twice during the regular season and went 1-1 while allowing five runs and 13 hits in 12 total frames. Harvey, who is making his postseason debut, went 8-3 with a 2.23 ERA in 17 home starts in 2015.WALK-OFFS:1. New York RF Curtis Granderson is 4-for-6 with a pair of walks in the series.2. Dodgers CF Joc Pederson, who went 0-for-3 in the series opener, was held out of the starting lineup in Game 2.3. Los Angeles rookie SS Corey Seager is 1-for-8 with four strikeouts in the series.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Mets up big in this one, prolly winning by six in the seventh. Terry brings in Reed to put some stitch marks in the middle of Seager's back. Strawberry comes out of the owner's box to throw a hard left at Benitez. Ray Knight clocks Eric Davis. Tuefel, Darling, Ojeda, and Aguilera post bond in Houston and jump in the scrum. Absolute gold.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Dodger introductions at 8:07, just fyi.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 They need no introduction, I've seen enough of them already. I'm really a sour puss today, we need a good old fashioned double-digit rout tonight.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 And why is this game on the east coast starting a half hour before thegame time on Saturday? Won't be over until freakin' midnight.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 More notable is to see Cuddy riding the pine.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I thought Reynolds was penciled in as the replacement for some reason.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Reynolds is just the emergency backup. Flores is the starting shortstop.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 No way I can watch all of this (I have to get up at 5 am) but I want to see the beginning to see what happens.
