Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Sam Dyson is catching heat for having said Bautista "disrespected the game" but I think what he really meant was that that act disrespected Sam Dyson and the Rangers, which it did.Get off my lawn if you must but the erosion of sportsmanship in sports exhibited here troubles me inasmuch as it sort of condones this culture of ugly narcissists we've become.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 The truth is this bat flip deserves its own thread. fucking awesome. Just wish the camerapeoples had been smart enough to catch the whole flip.also this:

Far different from the over-celebrating that sometimes goes on after more routine plays. Fine, you finally sacked the QB after trying to get after him for 47 straight plays. Now end your fucking dance and get ready for the next play you idiot.I remember Deion Sanders in his early days with the Falcons intercepting a pass late in the 4th quarter and taking in when he team was down something like 35-0 and doing his high-stepping / check-me-out dance all the way. I would think that kind of thing would make his teammates want to pummel him but apparently the opposite was true and a sign, I think, of how ingrained (and this was what, 20 years ago?) that kind of narcissistic culture is in the NFL and how much I'd like to keep it out of baseball. But big plays call for big emotion and I'd like to apply different standards for the equivalent of Bautista's shot vs some Tuesday night HR in June.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Didn't Dyson take issue with Encarncion?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I dunno. Here's some unbelieveable footage from Bautista's young Japanese cousin (stick with it, it's worth it):[youtube:2f5tff4y]nrNTKy0L8jk[/youtube:2f5tff4y]And the obligatory send up by the San Diego Chicken of the 21st Century, almost as good:[youtube:2f5tff4y]B2DQ1QCR1jg[/youtube:2f5tff4y]
Guest El Segundo Escupidor Guests Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 In NPB, KBO and Latin America, bat flipping is no big deal. These unwritten rules in baseball are bupkis. They're what fucking landed Tejada in hospital and cost the Mets Game 2. They're from a bygone era, inhabited by twats like Billy Wagner, Chase Utley and Jonathan Paplebon.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 There's a case for and against tolerance for pimping homers and strikeouts, but I'm not sure that connects to Tejada's injury.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 They just shouldn't allow bat flips. And by "they," I mean relievers, or pitchers in general. Learn a sinker, maybe, Mr. Dyson.A century and a half of Hal Chase, spikes-up "play the right way," collusion, wage depression, "get off the field, nigger," and no-homo... and this is the signpost for the coarsening of the game? C'mon.
