OK, so it looks like the Mets are going to win the NL East and make it to the playoffs. It's not a done deal yet, but the probability is very high. At the beginning of the year, I set my personal reality-based win total expectation for the ball club at about 84 wins. They will meet that expectation as long as they win one more of their remaining 17, and I expect them to win many more. So, they have overwhelmingly exceeded my spring training expectations.

Sprinkled throughout some of our threads (Worries Here, Standings, 2015, etc.), some posters are musing about how far they might go based on how the team is constructed right now. Some are worried about going deep in October due to worries about various players/positions. Others seem to have the mindset that any post-season series wins are gravy. Some are prognosticating on exactly which will be the game winning play in the NLCS.

So my poll question is, now that the Mets have exceeded the pre-season expectations of many here, what are your realistic expectations for the team going forward in 2015?

Personally, I think this team has some major questions...but it's hard not to think it can be one of the more balanced Mets teams to play in October since the 80s.

I find it hard to phrase it as 'expectations' since really anything can happen, but the Mets can be very competitive.

Still seems like they're hurting themselves with Harvey, but the pitching is overall very good and that will play in the playoffs.

They suddenly have offense, and while it won't be like it has been lately when they face better opponents, they've got the depth to still score. No easy outs, no easy innings.

They can hang with any of these teams. I 'expect' them to win the World Series. I would be..satisfied? call it a successful/good season? if they win the NLDS. Eventually anyway. It took a few years before I thought of 2006 that way.

I have lose in the NLCS as well...there are just a lot of road blocks in that NL Central and, if they make it that far, they are pretty much guaranteed to face a Central team.

However, if they find a way to get into the WS, I think they could match up well against any of the AL teams in a seven game series.

I think they can win the NLDS, but I have my concerns about the NLCS. (That seems to be the general feeling around here.)

The recent starts from deGrom and Harvey have tempered my optimism somewhat. Hopefully with sufficient rest they'll be in better shape three weeks from now.

This would be cool: Beating the Royals in the World Series, opening in KC next year to watch them raise the American League Championship flag, and then going home to raise the World Champions flag....

Every day I'm rooting for the Yankees to drop out of the race, but now I realize they're the team I most want to face in the World Series. I may feel different next week.

Who knows with Houston? They're young like the Mets and crazy unpredictable. They may crush a team in a postseason series, or get crushed laughably themselves.

There are questions. There will be bumps. For the team to be where they are is kinda miraculous. According to my Mets miracle calendar we are due 2 miracles because we get one a decade.

We go allllllllll the waaaaaaaaaay!

And what's the point of hoping for anything less?
Expectations? I didn't expect to be in this position.
