MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 For those who want to enjoy Howie's call again, here it is:http://dailystache.net/must-listen-howie-rose-josh-lewin-call-mets-historic-comeback/As Edgy mentioned earlier in the thread, Howie came very close to a "Holy shit!". The homer is after the 1:25 mark.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 It's so cool and surreal to see that over-stuffed Mets dugout celebrating together Mets whose main Metly time is mostly past with varying degrees of unlikeliness for the post-season roster; Mets whose time is now, grinding it out, finding new alchemy every day; Mets whose time is mostly future, not playing much so far, but wondering if if their big league careers are always going to be this magical.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I'm always impressed by the guys who are barely on the team being as excited as anybody with a more obvious stake in the team's success. I remember Billy Taylor, off the 1999 postseason roster, appearing as invested in a great moment versus Arizona or Atlanta (probably Atlanta), as anybody else. I remember Jose Lima, who'd officially been a Met for maybe five minutes, being the most thrilled teammate of all in 2006 when David Wright beat Rivera and the MFYs. And last night, nobody looked happier for Kirk Nieuwenhuis than the freshly arrived, mostly (for now) forgotten Dilson Herrera.Teamwork. It looks so frigging good in blue and orange.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 What impressed me the most was the festibrations of Eric Young. He was all "OUR TEAM! OUR TIME!" and if anybody was looking to tell him that his time was two years ago, and only sorta, even if that wasn't all that much, he just wasn't hearing it.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I was impressed by how hard David Wright and Michael Cuddyer were high-fiving guys after Kirk's home run.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-inning-that-ended-the-nationals-season/At one point, with two out and one on in the top of the seventh, the Nationals had a 99.2% expectation of winning the game.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I think the Mets batters should be given credit for making Zimmermann work so hard so that he gets pulled after 5.2 innings and they could then feast on the crappy bullpen.

Only in one inning did Zimmermannnn have a below average (< 15) number of pitches thrown and that was the 4th when he got through it with exactly 14.I also think though that Williams got spooked by Murphy's good career numbers vs Zimm and the memory of a titanic HR hit off him in the last CitiField series all of which pushed him into over-managing a bit. With just one on and two out at the time and a two run lead, I would have let him finish the inning or at least go down trying, but he opted to go left-on-left. Murph hit it hard and they got the out, but then that made for one fewer reliever available an inning later when things started melting down.
