Yes, they don't HAVE to take him out until the deal is official, but it's simply smart business to do so. The only role social media plays here is that more people know about it quicker than they would have otherwise.


I agree. I'm old school like that too. I'd be more concerned about trying to not allow this to be a public thing. In the old days the manager just wouldn't tell the player til the game was over and the fans wouldn;t know until it wwas written up by someone--it has been portrayed as a dun deal for hours now, and that's on the media. Oh, social media does effect things.

He's probably not a millionaire, and being a wealthy man of any degree shouldn't mean losing at 16 your right to professional self-determination.

Just because trading without consent is the norm we've grown up with doesn't make it good. It certainly brings out the worst in fans, and I'm glad we get to see the real effect up close.
