Nobody knows what's to happen with an injured guy, and Flores though I think he can be a good hitter isn't getting it done often enough to help the team.Plus this reverses the mistake of the Santana trade.I like it. I don't like parting with Wheeler but I'm gonna have to. If he was going to be ready by next spring I think I'd feel differently. But he won't. We need this now. We have a good core arm wise, Fulmer & others behind Wheeler. This is affordable.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Gotsa get men on and go deep in the same inning, guys.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Why is there a midget storm trooper behind home plate?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I'm still liking Conforto's ABs. He's been struck out a couple times tonight and yesterday on bastard pitches (and which may or may not have been strikes) but he's usually looked good in doing so -- and, no, that's not a contradiction in terms.

I like how he yelled at the ump while walking away, not turning his head back to him. This kid is a mature intelligent player.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Floores no longer even tries for the DP since he's not a Met. When he was a Met he'da made that throw to first if someone was there or not.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Our alleged trade chip almost getting slud into there.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Flores getting injured could only make this more interesting.

This kid is a mature intelligent player.Whether they were strikes or not is pretty much irrelevant (not to the AB but to the larger question). Point is that back-door breaking stuff that nips (or doesn't) the outside corner are virtually impossible to hit so it's not like he's looking overmatched by ML hurlers. An extra inch or two outside and it's Ball 4. An inch or two closer to him and I think he'd be all over it.

Those at-bats will balance out.GELBS ALERT
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Wow, Flores will bat. And hes getting a big hand. Wow.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 If he is aware of whats going on, and I assume he is, I would have thought that would pump him up at the plate. But he looked no different.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 If this trade is as far along as it seems the fact that he's still in there is weird - even if it's not exactly official yet.

But his approach to hitting was the same.I mean get pumped like players do 1st game with a new team, or aganist their old team...get pumped and plant one. He didn't look like he was interested in doing that. This is really strange, and now seeing him in tears, kinda sad.I feel shitty now. Ha.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 This is amazing.I hates the trading game.

Like Gary said, social media has changed things that we dont even think about until they happen.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 He's getting a lot of camera time, at least. All puffy eyed. It's like Fgirl and her little crying friends when they're all over here playing, such girls. I told her, send them all away and have them come back when they are eighteenish.

He was taking all the way until he saw a strike. He never goes up there taking. He looked like Bartolo. Barely bothering to put his bat over his shoulder.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 If I was Flores I wouldn't cry. But I'd be doing cartwheels and sliding into bags out there during a pitch.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Jesus. Pull the poor kid. How dumb to you have to be to run the Mets.

Like Gary said, social media has changed things that we dont even think about until they happen. But social media doesn't really enter into this as far as I'm concerned. There's nothing to be gained by Flores staying in the game for another 2-3 innings and there's a whole lot to be lost by a simple pitch getting away from a Padre reliever or a simple turned ankle.Even if Wilmer and the entire stadium didn't already know it as would have been the case in the pre-wifi days, Sandy certainly knows it and you assume Terry and the coaches too.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 This might be the new norm in such things.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Never been a fan of the new norm since it became new.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Please, he's not a victim. He's a millionaire who plays baseball for a living. Just stop.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I'm not objecting to him staying in the game because of his emotional state. I'm against it from a logistical standpoint of what it could do to the trade.Yes, they don't HAVE to take him out until the deal is official, but it's simply smart business to do so. The only role social media plays here is that more people know about it quicker than they would have otherwise.
