Hansel gets out of the jam. But they couldn't drag another inning out of Thor? I see he was at 98 pitches. The five walks sure didn't help.

Terry is dancing with dynamite today. Stretch your relievers, man. They spent their whole lives pitching multiple innings.

Whew! That was some kinda exit velocity for Moore but Newys right there.

Horrible. Two innings away from leaving town one game back.

The Handoff Strategy of reliever use is too often a recipe for disaster. They should call it the Russian Roulette Strategy.

Don't blame the strategy. Parnell had a job to do and didn't do it.

yup. everyone out theer should becapable of 2+ innings, why go away from a guy who is pitching well? keep him out there and save the other guy for the next day. it all comes from the stupid Save rule and the consequent desire to have your anointed "closer" end 50 games instead of pitching 2 innings in 30 games and probably helping the team more.

Boooooooo!

Was the second to last pitch to Newy like the same exact pitch that was called strike 3?
UGH. Flores should have walked to open the inning.

Familia has a buttload of 1+ inning saves already this season, so its not like Terry's ruled by this philosophy. If anything I'm mad he didn't go for another while you guys seems to be arguing that Mejia should still have been pitching?

No, I'm more than happy with Familia going for a multi-inning save. Same thing. It's all about getting shorter. Needing four good pitchers instead of five. Three good pitchers instead of four. Two good pitchers instead of three.

Too many damn walks!!

- Walking MdD constantly (plus a few others) added pitches and took away innings from Syndergaard. The first one (runners on 1st & 2nd - 2 out) seemed semi-intentional to load the bases for Zimmermannnn (questionable strategy IMO) but the rest weren't.
Come to think of it this was the case with Harvey in the first game. He pitched around Harper in the 1st inning and got burned by on a couple of cheap hits. But you're Matt Fuckin' Harvey dude and have a great (though small) record against Harper, go after him early in the game!!

- Then the Parnell walk to Ian Desmond fucked up the whole 8th. Desmond has power but he can't tie the game with the bases empty and pretty much suxx this year. Again, go after him!
But once he got on they were forced to play MdD deep in 'no doubles' so he dropped one in that Lagares normally puts in his pocket and things went straight downhill from there.

- Got screwed on both the Duda half-swing in the middle innings there somewhere and again on Kirk's called-strike 3 in the 9th.

- Played these guys close both in this series and in the season overall (overall stats are near identical) but we're now 2 games down to them in head-to-head and 3 down overall. Moral victories are NOT a consolation here.
