Just a big pile o' breaks.Even that triple was more well-placed than it was smoked. I thought he would bounce back from that inning even though he gave up 4, but that turned out to be his best inning.

I like em both, hope both pan out. I don't expect Plawecki stay up when d' comes back. Cause there's something to that "he's not ready" talk. He needs to play and d' will get the bulk of it in the bigs, health willing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Terrible night for Grandy so far.Let's make up for that... right... now.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Since Cashner left the game early in the 5th inning Monday night, I think the Padres pitchers have thrown about 80% breaking balls to Met hitters.OK it's probably not that high, but between Monday's relievers, Kennedy the starter today, and especially Thayer who just got yanked, they've been the opposite of challenging.... and down goes Duda on some junk. Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I'm waiting for Tejada to rip off his Mission Impossible rubber mask. I'm dyin to see who's under there.Another hit. We could climb right back in. 2 on Duda up. My eyelids are growing incredibly heavy.

I'm dyin to see who's under there. It's not like his productivity is unprecedented. It's easy to overlook, in part because of the depressed offensive environment league-wide, but his 2014 was a lot closer to his functionally useful 20112012 than it was to his disastrous 2013. He's had one misbegotten season, and Marc Carig would tell you it's been his whole career. I'm rooting for him. He's now got the second-best OPS among Met hitters not on the DL. (Third-best, if you count Syndergaard.)
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 This should have been an opportunity for Niese to work out his problems and also rest other arms in the bullpen. And, it would have fit into TC's plans to have pitchers throw between starts in the 6 man rotation. Those are generally the only good things to come out of games like this.Later
