Duda up with the a shot for the tying run... rally cap
is on, well my proverbial rally cap...

Good News: Tying run is coming to the plate in the form of our best HR hitter
Bad News: The double play is still a possibility.

So in the baserunning battle:
- they stole three bases, took another one on an errant pick-off throw, took another on a shortish Sac Fly
- we, on the other hand, gave two away on steal attempts and four more on GiDPs

Y'know, there's no harm in challenging that call at 2nd. What ya got to lose?

I really don't understand why they didn't. I'd have loved to see the Bucs have to take the field again after the fireworks. I didn't see any replay, so I'll take a look later. In real time I thought he was safe, no question about it.

I like being aggressive, like with the running, so I can't bitch about them trying to steal early on. The Pirates did the little things. I was watching this one with one of my brothers and when McCutchen hit that double in the 6th I said, watch, they'll move him over and get him in, like we were doing during The Streak. Ground ball to second, Cutch gets third. Infield in, Kang hits a cheap bouncer up the middle. Dun & dun.

Turning point for me: The Duda error/not error.

In other words, it was a three-run game, but a lot of small things added up to those three runs. A lot of one-base plays that they executed and the Mets did not, did not.

Oh I was positive that he was out. It's just that in this era where nothing is considered to have happened until an electronic review of them confirms that they really happened, we're starting to expect a review of anything that even smells like it was close and if you're down to your last out and haven't burned your challenge yet, well then whatthehell!

I suspect that that type of 'Hail-Mary' challenging just for the sake of challenging is considered bad form among managers in the still evolving mores of replay etiquette, so one manager throwing water on another's celebration (particularly at home) will invite others to do the same to him and before you know it everyone's got their Officially Licensed MLB panties in a bunch.

Nice hustle by Ceciliani though.

It was Campbell. Ceciliani should have walked but was called out on a bullshit strike 3.

Thinking Cuddyer should change his number from 23 to 5-3 cause its easier to score.

Syndie is auditioning to stay on the roster here, as Gee aced his rehab start.

Gaard pitches well and he stays, with Gee going to the pen. Not so well and Gee returns to the rotation and the big guy to Las Vegas for a bit. I think.

Anything less than a no-hitter, and Syndergaard is sent down. 3 more weeks in the minors = another year before arbitration kicks in. The accountants dictate the baseball moves with this team.

Check out Syndiebaby, still hanging around. And six-man rotation talk does abound.

SCORING CHANGE: Major League Baseball has changed a

scoring decision from the May 22 game at Pittsburgh...In the second

inning the Pirates Gregory Polanco hit what was originally ruled a

single off Noah Syndergaard...The call has been changed to an error

on Lucas Duda...Syndergaard allowed two runs in that inning which

will now be both unearned...Syndergaards ERA is now 1.82.
